Gordo
Playing my first round of playoffs ever w/ Phils vs. SF. Down 3-0 in middle innings I need baserunners and runs. Utley is on 1st and Jimmie Rollins smacks the **** outta the ball to RF and he was gunned down like a... like a.... well, he was just gunned down! I was stunned! dweaver99027
It happens to me many times, especially in smaller parks. Especially in that A Stadium two, with the 280ft right wall...
UncleMo
I did this to the PC one time in MVP 2003. Now I only use OF's if they have a gun for an arm so I can do that again and again. It does not happen often, but I'll be ready for it if I ever get the opportunity.
Nefarious
Did it once the other day but it was a AAA game so doesn't really count.
mrmariner
I was able to do that all the time with MVP 2003, I have not seen the cpu team try that with 2005 yet and I have not tried it. I think the reason I have not tried it with 2005 is because it's cheating.
TheMadcap
If you are insinuating that it is cheating because it is too easy then ok, but I have seen it happen in the pros before. It is possible.

saxemachine
I remember this happening to Cecil Fielder a few times. I've been on both ends of it in the game. Its entertaining.
Viceman2004
Its pretty hard to do. Ive only done it once with Reed Johnson. Someone hit a bullet to Johnson in RF, so Reed just gunned him out. hehe
closetogenius
i saw lane or berkman get a throw out from right, a shallow line drive was hit and whoever it was appraoched at a path that would allow for a textbook throw to first. out by half a step. definitely not cheating. but still, how often does rollins get gunned down? might wanna go into edit mode and check on that fielder's arm
Gordo
It might be the throwing speed overall, but I don't know....generally the game in this respect is playing pretty well for me overall. I mean the rip Rollins had was an absolute bullet and it was just perfectly played. I think any baserunner would've been gunned down in what I saw.....well, except maybe my mom! paldragons
I have my sliders adjusted to prevent these types of things from happening .... OF running speed cpu -15 and player -10 Throwing power cpu and player -15 / -10 Infielder speed cpu -15 (allows for seeing eye singles occaisonally) Infielder speed player -5 (on MVP difficulty cpu has big speed advantge) base running speed player 7 base running speed cpu 0 I find these types of settings pretty realistic on MVP difficulty gives me a chance to beat out a groud ball on the infield if my runner is fast and the defense man has a bad arm. without these settings u will get gunned down at first everytime on MVP difficulty regaurdless of how well the defense man throws or how fast ur guy runs on ground balls to short or third. sdoyle7798
I know it's been almost a year since anyone posted on this thread, but since I did it last night... In Houston, as the Cards, Willie Tavarez (rated with a 90 speed) leads off in the bottom of the first and hits a sharp one hoper to Juan Encarnacion, who guns down Tavarez at first by a half a step. I know Houston is a small park at the corners, and Encarnacion has a cannon, but TAVAREZ gets thrown out from the outfield? That's awesome!!! Too bad I got routed after that (Tavarez also got me back w/ a homer in his next at bat). EDIT: I rememebr thinking "Wouldn't it be awesome if I picthed a no-hitter after that play?" Yeah, well, didn't happen, but that would have beed nice...lol
Homer
i do it all the time. having ichiro's cannon out there in right field combined with the lackluster starting pitching the m's have, equals a great combination for outfield assissts for ichiro. the computer rips liners all the time if i throw it just right. the other two outfield positions though seem to be a waste for anyone with a great arm. if you ever throw out anyone from left field, let me know! YankeexDev
I remember playing triple play baseball and they had tons of fun cheats and one of them was a rocket arm and you could do that all the time.
DJEagles
I have done it two or three times with Reed Johnson. Threw out Frank Thomas at first in a game against the A's, and did it against the Nationals once that I can remember.
RaptorQuiz
I've been close numerous times on both ends - but just recently it happened for the first time. I got thrown out at first by the RF - but it was way into the future, both players were generated "fake" players.
drbeep97
i've been on both ends in real life... absolutely SUCKS to get thrown out cuz you think you gotta hit and then you realize that you gotta run that bad boy out... and i've never done it but i have been thrown out at first w/ 2 of the molina bro's (when benji was on the angels)... that sucks too

Immac
If you have an outfielder with a gun, you can cheat. Wait until the CPU rounds first base and time yourr throw to first and can gun him down.
kaplerisking
I've thrown guys out at second from CF a lot more than I've thrown them out at first. I've only thrown out CPU players once or twice at first from RF, while the cpu has done it to me plenty of times. But its more fun to get them at second from CF, makes it so there is only a runner on first for them and if both runners happen to be slow enough (think 2 Molina brothers batting back to back) you have a shot at a double play. sdoyle7798
I've thrown guys out at second from CF a lot more than I've thrown them out at first. I actually did that once in real life. I guess I was 16 (had to have been, I was driving a Ford Maverick... ) on my summer league team. I was in center and as I was running in on a shllow fly, the runner at first (who was, shall we say, "hefty") had to hold to see if I caught it. Well, I was able to short hop it and gun it to second and got the kid by 3 steps.
