Getting a new datafile is like a box of chocolates...

"you never knoew what you're going to get."

I am looking to try out a new datafile, one that won't make my batter ditties go away (I know I can change that myself) and one that won't make pitching or hitting harder (I swing at everything).

1. I think I only want a datafile that changes the batting views, like when the ball is in play. I'd love to see something a little different. Not too different that it distracts me and makes me try to figure out where the ball is.

2. I'd love it if the instant replay cameras were different as well.

Any resounding suggestions for any datafiles that would meet this criteria? BTW, I play with the batting view centered, I guess it is called.

I use the centered view, too. I don't remember where I got it because I mixed camera angles from different datafiles. I don't have a screen at this time, but I can describe it. The top of the strike zone is inbetween the shoulders and waist of the pitcher(depending on their height). The zoom is not fisheyed, but if a third baseman is cheating in on a possible bunt, you can see them. The batter takes up a large portion of the screen so no space is wasted, but room is made for the score overlay. I think its a good view because some pitches fool me and other pitches get smacked. I'll post a screen tonight.

When I played High Heat, I used a modified "high" batting view where the top of the strike zone was at the pitching mound. I tried that view in MVP and it was hard to judge low pitches.

I don't know about instant replay cameras but I'd like to change some.

No, and no. :D

Last time I gave someone this datafile, they said it was too much offense. Probably because my sliders are a personal preference. If I start a game and let the cpu play its like 4-3 in 2 innings, but if I play it could end up a 1-0 game.

You can get it here.

The original datafile was in the roddata version 2 download. It contained 4 datafiles.

roddata2 data, ksm cams, no pip

roddata2 data, ksm cams, with pip

datafile mix update (I believe this may be the one I am using, but with my cams)

roddata fix (hr?)

I know nothing about instant replay cams.

Hey I would like new replay cams, too. murph4thehall had a thread where he was editing broadcast and replay cams for certain stadiums. The thread is from august, maybe you can contact him. He has a bunch of stadium cams in the announcements forum.

pdub, any chance you can post your datafile again? I have played with many different datafiles and have tried to change the batting view myself. That view you have is the perfect batting view.

I sure would appreciate it.

You should learn how to import the camera into your own datafile. The datafile I posted will be a new gameplay experience for you, you may have to re-adjust all your sliders. Its very easy to do, especially when the only thing you are doing is importing one camera.

First you want to uncompress your CURRENT datafile so you can add the camera.

Grab The datafile compression utility here.

http://mvpmods.com/index.php?name=Download...details&id=1310

Extract it in your "MVP Baseball 2005/data" directory. Run DFCompUtil.exe and choose "decompress datafile.txt into datafile

Edit.txt". Don't open it just yet. Rename datafileEdit.txt to "CURRENTdatafileEdit.txt" or something so you know it is your gameplay datafile, also rename datafile.txt for backup purposes.

Now download the datafile with my batting cam and put it in the same directory - "MVP Baseball 2005/data". Choose "decompress datafile.txt into datafile

Edit.txt" in DFCompUtil again. Now you should have your datafile(CURRENTdatafileEdit.txt) and my datafile(datafileEdit.txt) in the same directory. Now we can import the cams over.

Open both with Wordpad, don't use notepad. Open the menu and click - "View->Options" and make sure Word Wrap is set to "No Wrap." for both windows. Working in my datafile, press "CTRL-F" to open the search box. Type in "<BattingView4" without the quotes. Hit enter and the first line for the center cam comes up(thats the cam you will be replacing in your datafile), it reads something like this -

0x9c1cdf19 107<BattingView4LeftHi>

Wordpad makes it easy to change a whole line at once, there is a small margin space to the left of each line, if you left-click on that margin, Wordpad will select the whole line(ALL the text on that line will turn blue). Then you click "CTRL-C" which is a shortcut for "copy to clipboard". Open the other window that contains your CURRENTdatafileEdit.txt and use the search function like we did with mine, then click the margin on the left side of the text to select the whole line, once the whole line is blue, press "CTRL-P" to paste the line we copied from my datafile, overwriting the cam in your datafile.

Do that for all these lines -

<BattingView4LeftHi>

<BattingView4RightLow>

<BattingView4RightHi>

<BattingView4LeftLow>

Then rename your CURRENTdatafileEdit.txt back to datafileEdit.txt, and in DFCompUtil click "Compress datafileEdit.txt Back into datafile.txt" It will read "Play Ball! Click OK and in-game select batting camera - center or 6/4 if you pitch with the pitching cam.
