Pirate
I am not asking for a crusade on my efforts, I just do not appreciate such needy and wanting requests. I thank all of you for compliments. I just think a large pack is silly. Call me stupid, but I don't have a backup of my stadiums on one disk let alone in a zip file. When i got a new computer after moving to AZ I had to download each and every stadium seperately like the rest of you. I lived to see the next day. They will be on this site as individual downlaods, as long as Trues keeps them here. He services us with a wonderful site to improve our game. GoNats
@UncleMo: I've spent hours searching this site, looking for neat things and have never come across a 2k6 update. I'll go check it out now. @Pirate: PM me with an update notification, and I'll upload a new version, no extra work required. Regardless, I'll check every couple of weeks ('cuz I'm always on the lookout for neat stuff) and if I notice something, I'll fix it. @mrmariner: The stadia will still be there individually, all I did was zip my stadia download directory so that people won't have to go through the several hours of attentive downloading that you had to do previously. @Sean O: RE: permission, no, I did not, for three reasons - 1. I'm not moving your mods to a different site, I'm not changing them and I'm giving full credit, all I did, was create easier access to them, something you're already doing. 2. This is a service filling a hole that was there, that even I noticed upon first appearing here. 3. Permission wasn't asked to use the advertiser's trademarks, nor the stadium owner's, nor MLB's, nor was the the MLBPAA consulted, nor EA, &ct. Permission would be wonderful, and I would really appreciate having it, but I'm not going to wait to get it to do something helpful to a lot of people. RE: Respect for others - I'm not disrespecting anyone. Re-read what I posted. I used an imitative strategy to point out a deficiency that has been apparent in the postings of established members towards newer ones, that's all. It was supposed to draw attention, and it did - I can guarrantee you that the problem has been fixed - people will now be a little more polite when other people ask questions. My purpose in posting what I posted has been accomplished. Longevity != License. Do you find it acceptable to denigrate honest questions asked of a communtiy? To make someone else feel small and stupid because they had the guts to ask for some help? I don't, and it's a button of mine, and I'm going to jump on it every time I see it. That a question can be answered 'easily' is a cop-out. What is 'easily'? Easy for an established member is different than easy for a newbie. What are the circumstances motivating the question? Is the person asking the question because he has limited time available and wishes to make the most of it or is he asking because he hasn't found the correct set of words to put in the search bar? The point is, you have to give people the benefit of the doubt and calling them names is unacceptable, no matter where it comes from or why. Thumper's mom had it right: If you can't say sumpin' nice, don't say nuttin' at alllll. She also said to eat your greens. Thumper's mom was a smart rabbit. RE: Introductions - Oh, I dunno, I rather think that this was a more effective introduction than "Hi, my name is Roger, I live just south of D.C. and I love baseball!" Seriously, you know waaay more about me now, in three little posts than a whole thread full of "Welcomes!" You know that I stand up for myself and others, that I have a real issue with disrespect, that I'm an effective and creative communicator, that I don't complain about problems, I do something about them and that I would rather just jump in than timidly get my feet wet. Call me non-traditionalist.
Sean O
@Sean O: RE: permission, no, I did not, for three reasons - 1. I'm not moving your mods to a different site, I'm not changing them and I'm giving full credit, all I did, was create easier access to them, something you're already doing. It does not matter where you are moving it, the point is, the people who created the mods are the one who decide what can be done with them, because it is common courtesy. When you rehost a file, it disrespects the many people you personally thanked who helped out on a project, which is integral to forming this community. The point is, the modder has the right to be able to update the versions of his park available without every third-party person thinking they have the right to do what they want. It is basic courtesy in this community. I certainly, for example, wouldn't want version 1 of the Coliseum in some pack, so people think the terrible Alpha version is all I'm capable of, without the info that it's an Alpha. it's just that simple. 2. This is a service filling a hole that was there, that even I noticed upon first appearing here. Except the hole didn't really exist, and could've been solved by a simple list, in about a dozen threads you missed because you're new here. Next time, please use the search button and lurk for more than 10 minutes before deciding you're a hero. This is one of the dumbest arguments I've ever heard. First off, do you think I should track down all of the owners of the defunct businesses that I use for my parks? As far as I can tell, I've used 3 real, existing companies in everything I've modded. Second, what does this have to do with artistic license? This is a self-contained community issue, and a basic sign of respect to the modders that they get to control the availability of their mods. MLB / MLBPA is implicitly allowed by mvp 05's very existence, while EA has never attempted to stop a mod to their product that did not involve money. The point is, in the past, modders have complained about their mods being taken from them. EA has not, and that makes a ton of difference. Don't even attempt to take the moral high ground here. Jeez, do you spend time in front of a mirror every night saying how awesome you think you are? You are ridiculously conceited for someone who has contributed nothing to the community, apart from annoying 3 of the most prolific modders around. Nothing has been fixed, and now if you do upload this (and I would, of course, ask Trues to take it down), it sets a terrible precedent that any child can do whatever they wish. But, you've been here all of 4 days, so you wouldn't care about that. Longevity != License. Do you find it acceptable to denigrate honest questions asked of a communtiy? To make someone else feel small and stupid because they had the guts to ask for some help? No, but I enjoy showing little punks like you what's going on in the community. I don't, and it's a button of mine, and I'm going to jump on it every time I see it. Awwww, I annoyed Captain America, I am crushed. Please save the community from my interference, as you're clearly more helpful in the 4 days you've been here than in my 10 months of modding. I understand each and every word you've typed here, but put them together and it's insane babbling. As far as I knew, Thumper's mom didn't try to step over anyone else's work when she just arrived in the forest. You know that I stand up for myself and others, that I have a real issue with disrespect, that I'm an effective and creative communicator, that I don't complain about problems, I do something about them and that I would rather just jump in than timidly get my feet wet. Call me non-traditionalist. Fine, but don't go kvetching when someone calls you on your ignorance. This community is built on respecting the work of the modders, and when someone violates that, it doesn't go over well. As someone who has worked on mods for dozens and dozens of hours until I'm seeing little blue vertices everywhere, someone who is taking over control of those mods will not be well received. AstroEric
I was going to write about how I downloaded all of the stadiums the other week, and that it was quite a process, but that I also got to look at screenshots, pick and choose which stadiums I wanted, which I didn't, and which I hope not to play in, etc. etc., so that it was worth it to me not to have just one mega-downloader. But now I'm intrigued by the thought of SeanO seeing tiny blue vertices everywhere. This may become a novel. --Eric

Sean O
I'm actually going to write and star in a hollywood blockbuster about it, called The Vertex. Nothing really happens, but I call myself Uno and say "whoa" a lot. And it'll still be better than Star Wars. (zing!)

Sean O
I mean, I want to set things straight, GoNats seems like an intelligent person who wants to help the community, and I'm glad to see such interest in a new member. But it is absolutely vital to understand what is and is not acceptable in this community, and I guess it's better to err on the side of caution when it comes to a modder's work. I don't want to be mean about it, but I'm going to be upset when either my work, or the work of the modders I respect and work with, is compromised. Nats, I hope you stick around a while and get into modding, since we can never have enough people interested in helping out. nuf ced.

Agreed, I get my knickers in a bunch when I see older people pick on the newer ones (I come from some big MMO communities, where that can be a terrible problem). That said, I wouldn't dare impinge on the beauty of what you've created, and would never even consider 'compromising' your work. However, I have read the forums, and I have seen dozens of posts requesting stadium packs. It's not a terrible issue, to be sure, but it is undeniably there. And if people don't like my choices, they can create their own packs! RE: Modding, actually, the fact that the Nat's Single A Team has been renamed from the Potomac Cannons to the Potomac Nationals has been bugging me. I know my way around Photoshop, so I've been doing my homework on fixing the uniforms and the ingame graphics.
Hoop27
since I was the clown that started the thread I should say the MVP 06 mod is everything you want in one download (well everything and more for me) thanks to the modders!
