TOMMACH
First, I just found this site. One word. Amazing. Now, what I'd like to do is be able to change the color commentary. What I want to do is replace all of the color commentary with my own audio. What do I need to have in order to do this, if it is at all even feasible. Thanks

TOMMACH
What I mean is the technical part of replacing the color commentary. Where each line would go in the game.
Yankee4Life
I don't know if this is something that can be done, but if you can do this a lot of people would be grateful. Mike Krukow does the color commentary in the game and he is terrible.
biker_jim_uk
of course it CAN be done, however it most likely WON'T as there are so many files to replace.
TOMMACH
Look, I'm willing to do the color commentary, I just need the technical information. I can do the audio files, I have Steinberg Cubase. I just need to know how to replace Krukow with those files.
Edam
I'd like to just have Krukow entirely deleted or replaced with silence.
Hoop27
Tom from what I saw when I brought this up is finding someone who would be willing to put in the time to take this project on. I'm willing to do it as well however I have no idea whatsoever how you would actually put the files in the game. if you want you can send me a PM and we can discuss some ideas because I think this would be a great idea especially with the 2k6 mod getting close. biker_jim_uk
as you obviously have no desire to actually search for this info, I'll give you a small start and leave you to find the rest. It has been explained many times to people who have this same idea and then they realise what a big job it is, fo eg you need all the numbers from 0-1000, as well as all the player and team names. Good luck! http://www.mvpmods.com/index.php?name=Foru...er=asc&start=
Royal Blues
Yes, this is a huge undertaking. You would have to have Cubase saying each players name (at least their last name) or their postion, e.g. "The third baseman steps up to the plate". Also, as far as I can remember, nobody's found a way to decompress the audio file that holds the PBP commentary. I'd been wanting to replace the broadcast with Ryan Lefebvre and Denny Matthews of Royals Radio, and nobody could figure out how to get into the PBP file. Of course, I could be mistaken, and someone may have been able to crack into it by now.
biker_jim_uk
people opened the pbp last summer  just use the sx prog and having a quick look, I've got 13,500ish files in the pbp and plyr_pbp folders.
TOMMACH
Okay, clearly the pbp is extensive, which I never said I was interested in doing anyway. That being said, what I want to do is change all the color commentary. Now, this is what I'll do. Give me a script with all the sayings you want replacing krukow and I'll do them. Then, somebody with the know how to convert them to .asf and place them into the game can do that.

IF we already had such a script it would have been done already as the file conversion can be done in batches.
Hory
spch_pbp.txt in dataaudiospch_pbp lists all the pbp audio in the game (That is, all the audio in pbpdat.big tnamedat.big pnamedat.big etc) Each piece of audio has a code and the size of the audio is also listed. Shouldn't be too hard although very time-consuming to match the pbp audios up
pdub
I know how to convert audio files to EA format with sx, and so do several other people on this forum. I forget the exact command line at the moment. BigGUI can extract from .big files, but I can't open the MVP Baseball 2005dataaudiocdspch_pbppbpdat.big file with it. There's probably another tool somewhere that can.
biker_jim_uk
good point, the pbpdat has lots of scd files in it, not sure how to extract those, seems I was getting confused with the other pbp files
DYosua
You can open and extract the files from the pbpdat.big using Egorgiy's ASF Import/Export program, found on MVPmods here: http://www.mvpmods.com/index.php?name=Down...details&id=1893 It takes a while for the program to open the file, because there are 1,795 clips inside... UncleMo
and when you export them out of that .big file, and use my express version of SX, it will convert them all in a matter of seconds.

A subscription to MLB.tv would be your best bet, since they have an archive that goes back a year or two. Good luck isolating PBP though - you'll have to deal with all the stadium background noise that is under the voices.
TOMMACH
Got it to work. Lot of files huh? There are more than one audio file for each situation. Like when the pitcher walks the batter, Krukow says, "You're killing me meat!" or "He worked a walk" This will take a while, so if there's a favorite saying you want me to include in the replacement stuff let me know. pdub
I've got one - "He worked alot of balls there" or "He didn't like those balls, because he didn't swing his stick at 'em"
