brtalley
hey guys...heres my set up...new dell 6000 inspiron laptop...80gb (less than half full)...1gb ram...radeon x300 (256). the game looks good...and plays okay...just not as smooth as consol. i turned a few things off...but still a little choppy...any advice? (other than not posting so fast)?
Hoop27
well helmet reflections is one that can slow it down. but you may want to check your background programs and turn them off (aka if you have a pop up stopper or virus protection running) try that and see if it speeds you up. brtalley
well...it's still not making much of a difference. i messed around with the resolution too...but all that seems to do is make it look much smoother or much rougher. i've never played a pc baseball game...it's always been console...but i dont think this has to do with that. it seems to me that all my hardware is good and updated enough that i should be able to run this game smooth. i even closed most of the programs that i could that i knew what they were. mcfee is closed...messengers are closed...mozilla is closed...everything. sometimes it runs smooth...maybe for 15 seconds or so...or for a hit to the outfield...but then the throw to second or wherever is very choppy. its extremely frustrating because it looks ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! but the way it's playing, i'd rather play xbox. i know this has to play better than it is...i'm just not sure why its not. i even tried making another user that would be just used for this game...not much luck. still choppy. any ideas? Hoop27
The only other idea that I have right now is maybe spyware is a problem on your system? If you aren't running a spyware removal tool I would reccomend ad-aware it is free and constantly updated. Ad-Aware SE

UncleMo
What uniforms do you have installed? KCCITYSTAR'S or Umachines, or default ones that come with the game? If you say I don't know I just installed something called BIG SHMOOZ, then look to see which version of BIG SCHMOOZ you downloaded.
UncleMo
make sure that you have Umachines or the default unis. With your card, you can't use KC's. Also, did you download stadiums? If so, try going back to default stadiums until you get a better video card.

klon122
make sure you have UPDATED all your Patches with EASPORTS online. They have a fix for Choppy play for the PC on there website! Ever been to their site lately? Every time I found links via Google relating to 2005 I was redirected to MVP 2006. Now, do you _really_ need to install all the patches or just patch #5? brtalley
this is soo frustrating. i absolutely love this game, but i'm getting so frustrated! i've tried playing the basic installation, and i've tried the 2006beta and they both play at about the same speed...slow and choppy. i got the adware and ran it...i'm closing all the programs i know can be closed...i have between 30-40 gigs of open harddrive...i surpass all the minimum requirements (except i'm not sure about the graphics card. i have a mobile radeon x300 http://www.ati.com/products/mobilityradeon....html...someone said that my graphics card just isnt good enough...but if that were the case...wouldnt the graphics just be bad? i've even played it on 600x800 and it's still being choppy. it's just getting frustrated. in a few more days, if it doesnt get any better...i'm afraid i'm just going to have to give it up and go back to console...which wont look half as good as all this (thanks to you unreal modders out there) but i'll sacrifice the look for a smooth, good gameplay. any other suggestions...i'm dying here. ps. to all you modders...mvp 06 is UNREAL! i just wish i could play it! Ghostdog
I got a similar problem with MVP06 Beta. Everytime i throw the ball to the corner infielders the game gets choppy. I have a ATI 9600 PRO, with the latest Catalyst. Also tried to mess with resolution, helmet reflections etc. but it still gets choppy e.g when i execute a doubleplay. Anything else is great, you guys did a terrific job! Feels like playing a whole new game!!! Any suggestions?

Ghostdog
thx kraw, but before i installed MVP06, the gameplay was very smooth, even with the mods i got from here. Thats a bit confusing... Do i need to install all patches or can i just go with the latest one?
UncleMo
how fast is your laptop brtally? I know for a fact that x300 is good enough. My card is very similar to yours, and my brother has the x300 and he ran it well (he had 2 gigs of ram though, i have one gig though). make sure you have a good driver downloaded from ati. also, if your card is "onboard" your laptop will not run the game as well as if it was an x300 installed as a seperate video card. like i have onboard graphics so sometimes i get slower gameplay with other games, not with mvp though. brtalley
hey uncle mo...thanks for all the help. i've got a 2.0 pentium inside...1gb of ram...the x300 is 128 dedicated...and it is integrated...i think all laptop (or most at least) gcards are. the only driver i have is the one that came with it...may of last year i think. i have no idea what driver to even get!? i went to the ATI website and got a little confused. maybe i just need to spend more time with it. if you know what driver i'm should use...shoot a link over to me or let me know. also...what should my x300 settings be set at? like if i go to properties, settings, advanced...there's a lot i could change...i just dont know what it all means. thanks guys. i really want this to work out. ps. uncle mo...any chance that you got your name from the simpsons episode where moe and maggie "bond" and moe calls himself "uncle moe"? just curious... pss. an about the patches...i have patch 3 installed...do i need 4 or 5?
