Hello-

Has anyone tested MVP 2005 modded on Windows Vista beta? (both 32bit & 64 bit versions?)

Does it run? any problems getting it to run?

I really hope so... Dont want it to die off when Vista comes out. With all these amazing Mods this game deserves to live a long time!

I appologize if this question has been addressed in the past, Ive been gone for a while and am exited to be back! thanks for any feedback.

I don't think it would matter too much even if it did or didn't work, as Vista is nowhere near release specification yet. The official release date is still months away and there could be so many changes made in that time, any of which could make the game work or cease to work.

From what I've seen, the current betas really aren't much more than fancy graphics, a semi-updated shell and some non-major features. A lot of the architecture is generally the same as XP. And from what I've read, you'll need a pretty hot system to be able to run Vista with any kind of success without serious performance issues. That's pretty much the case now, and I don't see it improving by the time it hits stores.

For one thing, Windows Vista will be shipping with Direct X10- so this *May* impact compatability running games on Vista written before it.

From what i understand, Microsoft is currently testing applications to help ensure as "high a compatability rate as possible"- so many games *should* still hopefully work-

I just want peace of mind- ...like many of us here, I play MVP2005 ALOT, and really just want to know I don't need to worry later on. -Sure we could all keep running Windows XP forever- But as new hardware comes out, at some point we are going to either want to, or be forced to move to this new platform at some point.

Vista is scheduled to be released sometime in the 4th quarter of this year. Most of Vista's coding of "feature-set" has been completed as from what I have been told. They are now focusing on application compatability and stability prior to release. In my opinion, testing MVP2005 on the latest beta builds of Vista should give us a pretty good idea of weather or not it will run when it hits the stores later in the year.

If there is anyone in the Microsoft beta program, or someone who has access to Vista beta build 5370 or higher and willing to test this out for the rest of us, I would surely greatly appreciate your feedback. thanks!

Why worry over this? If it doesn't work, then it doesn't work... And if it doesn't, then run a dual-boot system with WinXP whenever you want to play the game.

Hey krawhitham- Great to hear it runs on the beta! I assume MVP2005 then would probably work on both the 32 bit and 64 bit Vista beta's at this time- This sounds like good news for compatability moving forward *hopefully* with Vista- Thanks!

As MarkB mentioned, lets all hope Microsoft does not change something before Vista's release which may cause the game to stop working.....

(Please Microsoft!)

- And eber, this is true- If absolutely necessary, we can dual boot later on with XP if needed.

Thanks to all who have replied.

Great news. I've gotten real close to dual-booting Linux on my machine, so that's exciting.

I've got a laptop with vista and MVP 2005 has been running on it just fine. This is not to say that I recommend vista, or even that I like it...don't get me started on that...but it's getting harder to find a new pc without vista so I'm glad to see that MVP runs on it. I have Radeon Xpress 1100 graphics with the stock drivers, and I've had no problems so far.

I can run the game in Vista 64-bit Ultimate, along with MVPedit and bigGUI, but I can't get MVP 2005 Editor to work. I can run MVP 2005 Editor in 32-bit Vista Ultimate, but not 64-bit Ultimate.

I can't see wasting my other hard drive to dual boot in XP--I am glad to be rid of XP. I need a new look and Vista looks great! :p

I got it to work--see the next post.

I managed to get MVP 2005 Editor installed in 64-bit Vista Ultimate, quite an adventure. I installed TiT with the required x86 download and MVP 2005 Editor works. Yes, it works!

Microsoft said it couldn't be done and wasted hours of my time. :tired:
