djjoe
It is pretty obvious that alot of newbies, like myself are totally overwhelmed while trying to get this awesome mod on our monitors,so I ask if if it is possible or if there already is a newbie guide on what/how to install mods and get the game playing to its fullest.I recently infigured out how to install the mod,but I do not think I have the faces up to the best quality as the players look just ok at best. Also should I have installed an official EA patch before installing the mod?I have a NVidia GeForce 2,and I have 526 of Ram.Help? mrmariner
What I would do is read alot of threads for knowledge on how to mod the game and also just to learn what some other members have had problems with. I read through alot of threads just to see what people have to say. I could stay on here for hours just reading at not even make a reply. I'm not so sure about that gforce 2 card, you might be pushing the limits, some of these graphics mods are pretty in depth. I'am not a mod install expert but there are alot of people here that can help you.
GBrushThreepwood
I think it would be helpful if one of the mod developers, or somebody who has gotten the game to update with success, wrote a best practice guide for those who want to install the update. This would cut down on a lot of the questions. I'm holding off on installing this massive download until I receive some more definitive instructions on what requirements I need to fulfill, and I what I need to install beforehand (especially patches). Well there are all kinds of updates that you can get for your game, with easy install instructions. If you are talking about the new 06 mod version, if you did some reading in the threads, you would see that they are still working out some of the bugs. djjoe
I'm speaking of the Mvp 06 mod.Would I be able to view the players in high detail if I were to install a GeForce 4200?My game slows down when I switch to 1024 in video options. mrmariner
Your gforce 2 pushes the limits of this game, I have the geforce 4ti 4200 and it works great. If you are going to get a new card get something that is more up to date, spend your money wisely and get somthing that will last a long time. The card I have is perfect for me but you might not like it. It's kinda like,, do I like, INTEL chips or AMD? If you are going to buy a new video card don't buy the 4200, it's like 5 years old there are better cards to get, do some shopping and research first. mrmariner
All I can say is that the gforce2 is way outdated. Do some research on video cards, you should be able to find a good one for $100.00 bucks. Check newegg.com I have bought a lot of there stuff and they are great. I bought a complete setups from that place from the case to the monitor. Check that site out.

biker_jim_uk
don't get a 9600, there are far more upto date cards try a 800 or 850XT or the 6600gt - should be around $100 and should last you a while
djjoe
Thanks guys,How about a geforce 6200 256mb?apollo geforcefx5500?The chaintech geforcefx5500,and sapphire atlantis radeon 9600 have great buyer reviews on newegg. So many choices and so little knowledge.I would like to buy something that will be able to run MvP for six more years, until EA finally is able to put out console MLB games,as MVp is the only game I have ever purchased for PC.Thanks again. eber
A 6600GT might be a little over the $100 price point, but it's probably worth it if you plan to play other games or want a card that would last a little longer. Be on the lookout for some deals for that card. It's probably the best bang for your buck card out there right now. Also, be sure when you get any card that it's not the cheaper 64-bit memory interface version--it'll bog you down. 128-bit or above is where to go. djjoe
I was looking through newegg, for the 6600gt,and I noticed several different brands such as chaintech, msi, ledtech, etc.,all have versions of geforce6600.Which is the one I should purchase,or does it not matter? Thanks. eber
To be honest, I don't know what the best brand would be, as I'm still running an older card. But from everything I've been told and read, the better brands seem to be eVGA and BFG. I used to have an old Chaintech card (not the best of brands) but it worked no problem...they're pretty much the same...some companies try to short change you with lower memory interfaces (leading to cheaper prices). My advice is to do your own research and read the reviews. Also, since you seem to be fairly new with it...make sure you get the right type of card...they come in 3 "flavors" nowadays... PCI, PCI express, and AGP (all types of slots where you insert it in your computer)... PCI is the least desireable and usually not common on newer systems. Looking on newegg, the eVGA for $119 (AGP) and $109 (PCI express) both after rebate seem pretty good.
