GBrushThreepwood
I'm not sure if you guys have already addressed this problem (because the site is loading a bit faster now), but I figured it was worth mentioning. The site was taking a huge hit in terms of performance due to the high volume of people downloading the MVP 2006 installer files. If I'm not mistaken, they were initially hosted on the same server which manages the bulletin board and other web site navigation. I know you guys mirrored these files, but wouldn't it be easier to just set up a torrent and use the power of the community to share the files? Doing so would increase throughput on the website when popular new additions are added (the web server would not be taxed as much), decrease your monthly bandwidth costs with hosting providers, and also increase speeds of downloads for users (assuming people kept the file open to seed). Maybe you guys can set this up for the production release of MVP 2006 update? Also: I noticed for the bulletin board, there are a tremendous number of images loading on each page, including the main header banner featuring Jeter. Wouldn't it be beneficial if you simply disabled these images from appearing during heavy traffic hours? This would allow for more users to browse the website at an acceptable response rate, as opposed to the tortoise speeds I was experienced this week. You could also disable msg board avatars and signature images (pretty sure this is do-able).. What do you think of these suggestions?
