Differences in star potential in players

Does anyone know where I can find info. on what players' star potential really means? (how many starts each player has that you can find under edit). For example, I am starting a Royals owner mode and they have 0

5 star players in their entire system. They do have 2 - top 100 players who are still 4 stars. Does 5 stars mean that a players will be almost dominate once they mature as a player? Can a 1 or 2 star player still be a good MLB player, or should I dump some of them? Have they already maxed out their potential? Any ideas?

Its possible for 1-2 star players to be major league quality and even surprise you. The majority, however, are scrubs.

The average decent major leaguer is likely a 3 star.

Five star players have the greatest chance to make the major leagues the fastest (they will progress very quickly and have the highest ceilings.) They also will likely hang around until their late 30s or early 40s and still be relatively productive. Five stars have the potential to have hall of fame careers.

Four stars are also big stars but may progress slower than five stars, and will likely end their careers earlier than a five star.

Also keep in mind, its possible for a 1-2 star player to be a big star and a 4-5 star player to be a bust.
