dweaver99027
How much success are you having using or trying to hit that pitch in the game? I pitched a perfect game with Wake some time ago, and whenever I use him he usually goes for 8 innings effortlessly, allowing no more than 2-3 runs... When I try to hit him, well, it's hopeless... even when I get some wood on it, it's usually an easy out... How about you?
UncleMo
Same deal. That is why when draft time comes, I love to see screwballers and knucklers. If I can't draft good ones, I trade players away to snatch away those guys from other teams. It is really nice if they have a plus 90s fastball to compliment it. If that was the case in real life, it'd be all over for batters... Knuckleballers in training actually use the Wakefield delivery or variations of it, and it's hard to go above 80 mph with it. If there is ever a guy who can throw a consistent butterfly pitch using a 'proper' overhand delivery, thus making his knuckler his 'surprise' pitch rather than his norm, well, it'd be a sight. VaSoxFan38
I have had some success with Wake, but i mainly use him in long relief (theres just something about using him in a starting role thats a bit weird for me...maybe its his delivery) i agree with Mo though...it is really nice to have a 90 mph heater to supplant the knuckler
dweaver99027
Other knuckleballers in the game are R.A. Dickey , Steve Sparks amd Charlie Zink. Are there any others?
