bigmo78
If there is one out there I would love to know about it. But I think that there should be a firstbasemans mitt in MVP 05 or 06. Perferably one that takes the place of the dark red glove slot. Or maybe part of a pack where you can pick which gloves take which spot. I would love to takle this. I Have photoshop experience but would probably need a little walkthrough with someone a little more Seasoned. Any help would be great.

raindelay7
As a career firstbaseman (little league to high school lol), I too am very frustrated that a firstbasemans mit was not included in game. this issue has been discussed before and i think the most promising idea involved altering a catcher's mit, but i never saw finished result and i can not find it in download section. I think main problem lies in fact that although you can adjust the look and texture of any glove, the fingered model of fielding glove is still present so it is tough to get that big half-moon look of a firstbaseman's mit. anyway, i hope some of the more skilled modders take another look at this glaring omission to game. bigmo78
Yeah i found the same problem but i think i found a way to fix it as long as the glove is dark like black for instance and the binding is a lighter color and it fits inside the old glove design i believe it will be close enough to simulate. rossmac7
It is in the works. Hope to have one included in the final release of MVP 06 http://www.mvpmods.com/index.php?name=Foru...r=asc&start=

rossmac7
If anyone wants to try out my first baseman's mits before I "officially" upload them you can download them here www.megaupload.com/?d=2VKJ8OW1 let me know what you think. If someone could post a screen shot of both of them in use that would be great. there is a readme attached. I made a brown and a black glove. Please let me know if the webing of the brown glove has the "holes" in it correctly. I realize there will probably need some touch up before it is ready to be released thanks
Gordo
megaupload is playing havoc with my NAV. Plus, I can't seem to find a place to register if I want to DL. Email is: daflyboys@yahoo.com I would love to see this in action and can easily UL some screens as well. (My 14 yo first baseman is chomping at the bit as well!!) thx bro
mrmariner
Has anyone tried the firstbase mitt? Looking for feedback and a screen shot.
Gordo
Yes...I'm pretty sure it installed correctly (black one) because the Easton logo was there. I sent him some screen shots. I'm not sure it looks all that like a first baseman's glove as he may be limited to how elongated he can make it look.
SwinginSoriano
Personally I am going to play without them because my one of my first basemen (Daryle Ward) also plays OF, and it would be a pain in the *** to edit his glove type type before I decide what position he plays that day. What if I switch him from first to outfield, or from outfield to first? It's a good concept, but I would rather seen all the regular gloves put into 2X first. Anyway, in future versions of my roster I will have to have two sets of files, for those with 1Bman gloves and those without them. :p

Too bad they can't just automaticly switch when a player is on 1st.
rossmac7
another problem with them is that it is very limited what can actually be changed. The fingers on the glove show up regardless. Must be built into the game somehow

You may have installed them correctly but you need to be sure to change the glove to either "Red in mvpedit" or "5"in EA editor
rossmac7
Anyway, in future versions of my roster I will have to have two sets of files, for those with 1Bman gloves and those without them. maybe you could include a new MVPedit config file that has the word "red" changed to 1st baseman as well. SwinginSoriano
That isn't a big deal, I gave MVPedit's config the overhaul it needed and probably adding one little thing is unnecessary... Anyway, what made the red glove the victim? Why not blue or dark brown? Bobby Abreu is going to be pissed that you took his red glove away from him! krawhitham
in the UR rosters 970 use light brown 642 use brown 1281 use black 80 blue 92 red I guess changing blue is a better choice
BudHawk
Thanks for the 1b mit, rossmac7. Looks great, Jason Giambi needs the bigger glove, that is for sure. :)

Exactly, and if you play more than one season, you end up with a bunch of new rookies that don't play first, but are running around the outfield with a first baseman's mitt. It'd be nice if it were in the game only for first baseman, but with the way MVP is set up, I don't think it's a good idea to put one in, since any player could end up using it. You end up sacrificing a lot of realism to gain a little temporary realism.
