MadHatter
Hi, I'm feeling my way around and learning as I go. Can somebody teach me how to add my own portrait to the player I created in MVPEdit? Thanks!
rossmac7
I am assuming you have a digital picture of yourself and from that point I would just follow the tutorial in the FAQ. It should take you step by step
MadHatter
You talking about this FAQ? http://www.mvpmods.com/index.php?name=Foru...ewtopic&t=12410 I couldn't find the info in there.
AstroEric
Take your picture, resize/crop it to about 128px wide x 155px tall. Open a new layer, and color in everything that's not you and your hat/whatever black. Copy this layer out to a separate file, so that it's just the black mass of nothing + either white or transparency in the middle where your portrait used to be. Open EA Graphics Editor, export a portrait .fsh file from the ingame/portraits.big folder. Use fshtool to break it apart in the new folder, and take the resulting two bitmaps, 0000.bmp and 0000-a.bmp into your graphics program. Make them all white, then paste your portrait into 0000.bmp and save, and your black outline into 0000-a.bmp and save. Then double click on the index file in the folder to regroup them into the fsh. Open the fsh with TextPad and find the number of the fsh you exported, change it to the number of your player's portrait/audio ID, and then rename the file to the same number. Re-import with EA Graphics Editor. That should be it. If you want to do 2x, then find a 2x portrait to make the fsh from and double the numbers I gave you before. --Eric

MadHatter
Thanks - I'll try it out!
rossmac7
the FAQ uses total commander. You do not need that. Follow it to the point where you have the .bmp and the alpha and use MVPedit to import them. Between the faq and the info AstroEric gave you should have the info you need. MadHatter
OK, I'm getting there... I've gotten to this point, but how to I do the following? I'm in EA Graphics Editor, but I can't find the fsh tool. Use fshtool to break it apart in the new folder, and take the resulting two bitmaps, 0000.bmp and 0000-a.bmp into your graphics program. Thanks for your help.
AstroEric
I think it should actually be nfshtool. It should also be in the download section here. --Eric
MadHatter
What happened to the download section? Oh, I see... I'll have to search for it later.
