PS2 USB Question.

Yes it works, I use it. Google "PS2 USB Converter" or something, and you should find it. THe only thing you need with it is Joy to Key, although its not necessary. J2K just allows the ps2 controller to act as the mouse so you can move it with the left analog.

you should just be able to plug it into the usb and go. there may have been an install disk with it (but windows XP should recognize it) then when you run the game just select the controller.

but you should just be able to plug and play is the main thing.

I wouldn't go as far as hacking the registry.

Have your adapter plugged in.

Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Game Controllers and take note of the name of the adapter that Windows detected. For example, on my Windows installation, the adapter is called just "USB Joystick."

Go to your controller.cfg in My Documents by opening it in Notepad. Now remember what I wrote about the name of your adapter in the Game Controllers window? Take a look at this:

profile= USB_Joystick_____

device= USB_Joystick_____

player= 1

number_of_buttons= 12

number_of_povs= 1

number_of_axis= 4

VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_START= button 10

VPAD_RUNNER_RUNHOME2SCORE= pov180 1

VPAD_BASERUNNER_ADVANCEALL= button 7

VPAD_BASERUNNER_RETREATALL= button 8

Notice that my adapter in Windows is called "USB Joystick," so any spaces should be replaced by underscores. Copy and paste the stuff above onto your controller.cfg file and change the Profile and Device to whatever name Windows detected for you and replace any spaces with underscores. Save the file and close.

I actually did the registry hack, but found it simpler to do what I suggested above. This worked for me for both 2004 and 2005.

Anyways, the OP's problem has been solved via his bump of an old topic. So now I can rest easy.
