Pedantic Posted February 16, 2006 Share Posted February 16, 2006 I'm thinking about buying MVP 2005 (a little late, but better late than never, as they say). I'm also going to be getting a new laptop soon. I'm not too sure what the specifics are as far as technical specifications go, but it will probably be somewhere just shy of 2.0 GHz and will probably have around 1 GB of RAM. Does anyone else play using a laptop and an Intel integrated video card? How well does it run on the integrated? Is it playable? Also, I'm used to playing MVP 2003 with a keyboard and mouse; I like the consistency. However, I've noticed that a lot of people have recommended gamepads for 2005. Just how difficult is it to play on the keyboard? Does the game fully function if I use the keyboard (i.e., I'll have all of the buttons)? I played the 2004 demo and there were many buttons I couldn't find (albeit, a keyboard without a numpad -- I will have a numpad this time around). Thanks for your help! brtalley Posted February 16, 2006 Share Posted February 16, 2006 well...i play on my laptop...its just short of a gaming laptop. 80g hd and 1g RAM...and my graphics card is a big upgrade from the integrated intel...its a 128mb radeon x300...and the game does not run well on mine. i'm not sure if it's the video card on mine though, because many have said that the x300 should run fine on it...but the bottom line is that it doesnt play well...im frustrated and dissapointed. brtalley Posted February 16, 2006 Share Posted February 16, 2006 my drivers are from late 2005 (when i got my laptop). i'm downloading new ones from omega, like you suggested...but wonder if they will work on an integrated graphics card. i hope so. as far as it not playing well...it's just choppy 80% of the time. I don't think bestbuy or any store still carry them as they are out of print or EA License cannot produce the game this year. U may need to win it in auction. As for gaming in Laptop is not very good usually but if U have a good video support it will run the game well. However, with INTEL video support, I can for sure say it won't run well. For once U will get bright or transparent player when U set helmet reflection on. Than the game will run choppy cause is not good enough to run the game smoothly with Intel. My advice that may help a little bit with laptop is getting a fast SATA hard rive so it can load the game faster. Avoid 4200-5200 rpm and make sure is a 7200rpm hard drive. And most important get a lot of RAM in that system. Running smoothly in laptop usually require a high-end video card so if U have the money to burn get it. If not is best to play the game in desktop. I have the rumble pad 2 and it works great, all the controls are right there at your finger tips. Do some forum reading and you will see playing on the keyboard sucks. U won't get good framerate even U set to the lowest setting. INtel graphics was not meant for gaming. U have to get good video card to make the game run smoothly.
