Thome25
Are you trying too make a alpha channel for a portrait? If so, this is what I do. I cut out the portrait and putt it onto a 128x128 transparent backround, Then I make an all new 128x128 white backround(255,255,255), then I make another all new black backround(0,0,0). Next I copy the black backround and paste it onto the white backround as a new layer. Then I take the picture thats on the transparent backround paste it as a new section on the white and black backrounds. I then use the rectangle selection tool and just click so that the cut around the picture disapears. Then I use the lasso tool and I trace around the picture and select cut, now since you had the black layer set as a new layer over the white layer you should have a black outline with the picture area white. Then you wanna flatten the layers then increase or decrease too 8 bit color format(Thats "256"). Then grayscale it and save it as the nuber of the bmp but with a -a at the end. then with the picture with the transparent backround you can just flatten it and save it as the portrait bmp. I hope this helps, I tryed too explain it the best I could.
biker_jim_uk
he is trying to create an alpha channel to remove the dirt from a stadium to make astroturf, as would be obvious if he didn't keep opening new threads like this, but stayed in the original one  But hey, I'm no mod, so what do I know
