Phatferd
I downloaded one, but I don't know what to do with it. I copy and pasted the file into the old one, but this only caused my game to crash.
eber
Don't copy and paste into the old file. Replace the old file.
Thome25
it should go by itself into the C:/Program Files/Ea Sports/MVP2005/Data folder.
Phatferd
it should go by itself into the C:/Program Files/Ea Sports/MVP2005/Data folder. Don't you mean it should go by itself in C:/Program Files/Ea Sports/MVP2005/Data/Datafile? Also, I did what Eber suggested, but the game freezes at the loading screen around 25% every single time. If it has some added resource demands, I should be ok in that department...What could be causing this.
edmus
No, it should go in the C:/Program Files/Ea Sports/MVP2005/Data folder. You're not supposed to overwrite the file in the Datafile folder. That's what's likely causing the freeze.

rmac111
I have put a new one in the data file so I can play walkup music but nothing has changed. I didnt have to replace one because it was the only one.
spitoon
There will be a file called datafile.big in the /data/datafile folder, don't touch it. Simply unzip and copy and paste a new datafile.txt into the /data folder, it will override what is in the datafile.big file.
Phatferd
Thanks guys, I appreciate it. I don't know where I would be without this place. I will listen to everything you say word for word from now on.
jservice
I just did a fresh install and can't get the Jim825 datafile.txt to work. I extracted the folder right to the Data folder. Getting Nothing. I noticed that there is no file "called datafile.txt" in the original cds 1 or 2 So my question is, How does the Jim825 Datafile override the Datafile.big? Please HELP
xiberger
There's no need to put any folder into the data one. All you have to do is take the datafile.txt from the download and extract that file to the data folder.

Getting Nothing. I noticed that there is no file "called datafile.txt" in the original cds 1 or 2 So my question is, How does the Jim825 Datafile override the Datafile.big? Please HELP If you truly extracted the file to your data folder, it's working. If you see a file called datafile.txt in your data folder, it's working. I can GUARANTEE you this. A simple way to test it out is, delete the file & you will start to notce the difference. I notice you are saying you extracted a folder to the data folder. If this is the case, that's the problem. There should not be a folder extracted to your data folder. You need to have the datafile.txt FILE inside your data folder DIRECT. (no folder) I could answer you the technicalities of why it overwrites the datafile.txt, but for your purpose this does not really matter. Just suffice it to say, it does. (it does not overwrite the datafile.big though. There are other files in there that are not affected at all by the datafile.txt file you are inserting.) jservice
OK this is making me mad. I've switched datafiles back and fourth a hundred times in the past and they always worked. I moved the datafile.txt file straight to the data folder and its does not work. "big shmooz" I did what you said and put the file in and play the game. Take the file out and play the game. NO difference, it stays on the default camera views. IN or OUT. This is jim825 datafile readme Installation: To install the datafile, extract the datafile you want to use, rename it to "datafile.txt" and then copy the file to your MVP2005 Baseballdata folder. I even tried other datafiles I have and the same thing happens... Nothing!
biker_jim_uk
did you rename the txt file or the rar?
jservice
Yes I did. I don't get it, I've done this for 2 years now and never had a problem. I even tried using DF compression Utility and open some of my datafile files and it says "no file present"

If your options are set to "Hide extensions for known file types" then you are actually naming it 'datafile.txt.txt' which won't work (because it hides the first .txt). Does that make sense? Jim825
Spitoon - good point. I remember the issue of the hidden file extensions tripping people up (me included!). jservice - You can also verify what Spitoon is saying by opening up a DOS window (a.k.a. the Command Prompt), going to your data directory and issuing the command dir datafile.* to see what is in the directory. If you see a listing for datafile.txt.txt then it will prove Spitoon's point, and you can simply rename the file to datafile.txt.
jservice
Thank you, Spittoon, Jim825, and big shmooz for the three paragraphs you wrote and everyone who had a post helping me with this issue. I have to compliment the willingness of these people on this site that helped me during my time of need. It takes a very special person to leave his or her important time and come to the aid of a fellow MVP mod member. Your example is a wonderful lesson to us all. Please accept my sincere thanks. I love being part of this MVP mod family.
