A's rally from 0-3 behind to go above .500 for the first time this season...

Below: Eric Chavez and Milton Bradley both hit home runs and were once again the frontrunners of a rally to give Oakland a come-from-behind victory. Sentiments were widely contradictory in the two dugouts during the 9th inning...

The LA Angels went into this ballgame with far more desire to win than their opposition, and the results were evident in the first 4 innings, a period during which the Athletics struggle to get hits all the while the visitors slowly built a 0-3 lead. It was all to change in the second half of the game, however, as Eric Chavez and Milton Bradley both went yard and put their team ahead for good. Their performance, combined with Rich Harden's excellent pitching performance during innings 5,6 and 7, led the home team to an easy win in the end, which puts them on top of the AL West division, tied with the Angels.

M. Bradley 1/3, HR, RBI

Post-Game Quotes:

R. Harden :" They hit me hard in the first 4, but I got my act together in the end and helped my team win. This is a good result for us. The LA Angles would like to wish Mark Ellis a speedy recovery.

M. Ellis:" It was agood game for us, we won, that's all that matters. Doctors say my torn shoulder is going to keep me out for about 45 days. This is regrettable, but the good thing is I'll be able to help my team down the stretch, as things could have been much worse. At least me and Esteban will rehabilitate together, eh?

V. Guerrero :" This is just bad. I'm hitting below .250 to start the season, and I went 0 for 5 today. The guys depend on me, and I'm letting them down so far. It's still early, but this is unacceptable. ."

--- BREAKING NEWS --- One more player goes down with injury for the Athletics, with yet another shoulder injury. Mark Ellis, thus far the team's starting second baseman, tore a left shoulder muscle and is not anticipated to be back in playhing action for the next 45 days or so. After Esteban Loaiza's season ending torn rotator cuff, comes another shoulder injury to sideline another of the A's starters. Marco Scutaro will assume the role of starting second baseman for the time being, and when Elli is deemed fit to return to active duty, the situation will be re-assessed.

great dynasty by the way i love the A's. I have an oakland dynasty also was wondering if people would follow if i played it but i only play games against top 15 teams, and then only one or two games out of the series and simulate the rest. would people still be intersted in following?

also if you are thinking about moving your stadium check out WIP-san jose A's stadium in mod previews. it looks awsome.

- Lackey walks home a run, with 2 outs. 4-0, and he is immediately pulled.

Inning 4: Top: Garrett Anderson hits a double and drives Chone Figgins home from first. 4-1

Oakland goes up 4-0 in the 1st, then Haren goes almost unhittable to secure the 4th straight win...

Below: Eric Chavez hit a 3 run jack in the first to put the A's 3-0 ahead, and thanks to a once again inspiring performance from Danny Haren on the mound, Oakland never looked back and allowed only one run to the disappointing , today, Angels' batters, leaving Huston Street with an easy save in the end...

The Athletics uncharecteristically came out of the gates very strong, with Eric Chavez blasting a 3 run bomb and Marco Scutaro drawing a walk with the bases loaded, and never looked back since. Danny Haren was absolutely sensational in his 4th start of the season, going for 8 innings and allowing a mere 3 hits and 1 run, fanning 4 batters and walking only one in the process. Some might say that he could easily have gone the entire way, but his manager decided to pull him in the 9th to give Huston Street the chance to get the save and shake off some of the rust in the process..

Frank Thomas:" I needed a good game today after remaining hitless in our last 3. We stormed out of the first, took an early lead and then Danny held on to it for us. I'm really excited this fella is on our side, I can tell you this much, I've never had a tougher time with a pitcher than I had with Danny during Sprng Training.

Chone Figgins :" We are playing very, very poorly in this series. Haren is good, but 5 hits in the entire game is just plain awful. We have a long ways to go to be at the level we expect of ourselves."

Thanks for stopping by. :D

Seeing as though I'm a devoted Bay Area supporter, thsi one is going to go all teh way, unless something widely unexpected occurs. So, stay tuned, this is going to last us a while.

Weaver, do you know what happened to the nba live forums?

Nope, been down for, what now, 3 days? I'm guessing everyone swarmed in to get Andrew's post-deadline rosters and the poor thing collapsed... My guess is we'll be back to action soon enough. Who are you in NLSC, if I may ask so myself? :?:

I haven't seen much difference. Pitching has become less forgiving but, other than that, nothing really stands out as widely different. the games are TOUGH, i can tell you that much. 8)

I say go for it. There aren't many dynasties active right now and I'm guessing baseballheads in here are itching for a new read. Plus it'll create more real life bandwagoners for our team. :D

Yup, already have. If and when it is completed, it'll be in this dynasty.

How do you do it!!! I play on a laptop, it is super hard to pitch. I give up like 4-6 Runs a game on pitching with a ace like Sheets or Carpenter.

The pitcher i hate the most is M. Mussina though he sucks. What are your secrets on pitching on the PC? It would be a help, Thanks.

Very nice setup man, enjoy reading this and will continue to do so. Also you have inspired me to do my own (even though it's on XBOX). Look for a Devil Rays Fantasy Draft Dynasty coming soon.

Play it like a real baseball game. Chances are , if you throw two fastballs consecutively, you won't get a K.

Try to waste pitches to set up the CPU batters.

Try to not be left behind in the count.

Try to make them chase.

And, most importantly, focus on the PITCHING METER. Do not look at your pitcher's windup, or anything else for that matter. Just focus on the meter and the proper timing required to press the button with the meter in the brown area. That's the greatest trick of all. Simple, really.

If all else fails, just tweak the sliders. There's nothing wrong with that, just make it so that the game feels realistic to you.

I'm myself at NLSC, I only have like 100 posts but I'm working on a PS2 roster to upload at the site.

Good to have multiple sports fan like myself posting at various fora. We're back up, BTW.

Ah, the D-Rays... One of my favorite teams to play MVP with... Baldelli, Crawford and Gathright in the outfield make baserunning and chasing loose balls a whole lotta fun. Mayb etrade veterans like Lugo for some pitching talent to groom after Scottoie, and you'll be set for the future.

PS: Already played the next game against the Angels, and it was a nail-biter. Recap will be up later, as I am swamped right about now.

Inning 11: K-Rod enters the game, gives up the walk off home run to Adam Melhuse. What a game! 9-7

Oakland gives up a 7 run lead, but Adam Melhuse comes from the bench to score the winning homer......

Below: Frank Thomas drove in 4 runners in his first 3 at bats, and along with Swisher and Chavez helped Oakland to a 7-0 lead, but it wasn't to last long, as the Angels rallied behind Edgardo Alfonso and managed to tie it up in 3 innings, bringing jubilation to their dugout. In the end, though, Adam Melhuse hit the walk off home run that drove in a pair and gave the A's their 6th consecutive victory...

This ballgame was the best, show-wise, the A's have participated in since the beginning of the season some 20 days ago. Batters were clobbering pitchers, who struggled to get anything to their respective catchers, cleanly. Both Blanton and Escobar, and their relievers , Witasick and Valdez, respectively, were being hit hard, as the two sides combined for 37 hits and neared .500 batting average. Oakland went up ahead early, 7-0 in the fourth, inspired by strong plate appearances by Frank Thomas, Nick Swisher and Eric Chavez, and seemed to have locked on the victory as early as in the 4th quarter. The Angels hadn't said their last word, however, as veteran 3B and recent acquisition from the Giants, Edgardo Alfonso, gathered 4 RBIs including a home run, to almost single-handedly put his team right back in it with the score tied at 7 in the 7th inning. It remained this way into extra innings, and the deadlock was broken in the bottom of the 11th, when Adam Melhuse, who had previously replaced Dan Johnson at 1B, blasted K-Rod's fastball way over the right field wall for a 2 run, walk off homer.

Adam Melhuse :" That felt good... I saw Rodriguez wind up, guessed a fastball, it came high and inside, I closed my eyes, put everything I had into the bat, and next thing I know, it was flying way over the right. It's always good to go yard, but scoring the winning homer in extra innings is 10 times the satisfaction, I can tell you that."

Frank Thomas:" We started off better than any other time, but coasted after the 4th and paid for it. We practically invited them to tie up the game up, but thank God Adam did what he did in the end. This was a very important win for us..

E. Alfonso:" We left the work half-finished, and it hurts. We had every chance of scoring at least a couple of runs after the 7th, but we couldn't capitalize on them. Next time will be different. "

Offense never gets into it, A's 5-game winning streak comes to an end...

Game20-Pic1-Loedominantfor7-copy.jpgGame20-Pic4-Crosbystrikesout-copy.jpg

After the exciting matchup against the Angels, the A's went back to participating in largely drab, uneventful games. This was the case tonight against divisional rivals Rangers, who never looked really worried notching a home win in Arlington. Oakland's hitters continued their season's trend so far of not being consistent on offense and batting for a low average, resulting in few hits. Texas, on the other hand, did not exactly set the world on fire with their bats, but did just enough and rided the trio of Young, Texeira and Blalock, who, along with Kameron Loe's excellent mound performance, led the Rangers to an easy win, their 9th of the season and their 3rd in 4 games against the A's so far this month.

Post-Game Quotes:

Bobby Crosby :" It was another poor day for our offense. We struggle to put together two good days at the plate in a row, and it's hurting our chances of breaking free at the top of teh division."

Jason Kendall:" Like Bobby said, it's hard to keep a winning streak without consistent performances at the plate. Loe never gave us anything good to hit today, and that is the main reason the game turned out as it did...

Kameron Loe:" I had one of the best personal performances of teh last 3 years, and I'm happy I helped my team win. Hopefully this will solidify my place in the rotation and help me focus on the future with fewer worries about job stability. "

Barry Zito took the mound for the fifth time this year, and he did everything but disappoint. For 7 innings, he pitched carefully and intelligently, conceding hits but avoiding to let any runners reach home, apart from 2. He had some nice run support to help him pull it off, and eventually got his second favorable decision. The Rangers found it increasingly difficult to get hits when in scoring position, and a few timely ones by the Oakland hitters made the difference in the end. The downside for the A's was that they lost another player with injury, yet again a shoulder one, this time Milton Bradley.

Phil Nevin :" We just couldn't get hits when it counted the most, and that was our downfall. We wish Milton Bradley a speedy recovery... "

--- BREAKING NEWS --- One more player goes down with injury for the Athletics, with yet another shoulder injury, the third so far this year, after Loaiza's season ending one and Mark Ellis. Milton Bradley, a recent winter acquisition from the LA Dodgers, suffered a torn muscle in his non-throwing arm's shouldre while trying to make a catch in right field, and doctors estimate he will be sidelined for approximately 40 days. The trend of shoulder injuries for the A's continues, and another key member of teh squad will miss considerable time. To make up for this loss, the Athletics have called up Charles Thomas from AAA Sacramento , who will share RF duties with Bobby Kielty and Jay Payton, with the veteran Payton being the first option.
