Adam Eaton took themound for the home side and was pounded time and time again by the A's batters who were on a roll tonight. The score was 0-7 after 3, before Eaton got pulled by his manager, and despite a small rally to close the gap to 4, the Rangers never really stood a chance to get back into this one, as Crosby and Mark Kotsay were not only getting all the timely hits, but moving for extra bases as well. In the end, it was all about producing, and Oakland did just that to ensure the victory. . WP:Rich Harden (3-2) A. Eaton (3-2) BOXSCORE: OAK 13R - 17H - 0E TEX 4R -13H - 1E Stats of Note: OAK: B. dweaver99027
Series: @ KANSAS CITY Royals (9-11) April 29, 2006 OAKLAND ATHLETICS 7 @ KANSAS CITY ROYALS 3 Team Record:14-9 Game Notes: Inning 1: Bottom: With 2 outs and a 0-2 count, Sweeney hits a high fastball from Haren over the right field wall. 1-0 Inning 3: Top: Runners on first and second, Chavez blasts Greinke's pitch over the center field wall for a 3 run bomb. 1-3 Inning 5: Top: RBI single by Jat Payton. 1-4 Greinke walks Crosby with the bases full, and is pulled by the manager right after. 1-5 Sac Fly by Dan Johnson. 1-6 Sac Fly by Scutaro. 1-7 Inning 6: Bottom: 2-run homer by Matt Stairs just inside the right foul pole. 3-7 A's again more efiicient, grab road victory... Below: Sweeney stirred up some fireworks early in the game with a solo home run, but Eric Chavez and Bobby Crosby were once again the frontrunners on a productive A's offense, that led to a comfortable lead and an easy unofficial closing by Billy Koch... Mike Sweeney hit Dany Haren's high fastball for a solo in the end of the first, but the joy would not last long for the 25000 Royals' fans that attended tonight's ballgame. Eric Chavez continued his fine batting performances by hitting a 3 run bomb to put Oakland ahead, and with the aid of Bobby Crosby and Jay Payton who were getting all the timely hits, managed to lead his team to its' 14th victory of the season. Stairs attempted a comeback for the home side with a 2 run blast in the 6th, but it was too little, too late, for the defensively challenged Kansas City team. . We never looked back after that. Eric Chavez":We were productive on the plate, cameout strong when it mattered the most, and that's about it. I feel good with a bat right about now, after a poor start to the year. Zack Greinke :" I was awful today... I mean, 7 walks? I might as well have thrown blindfolded. The A's are a good team on offense as well as defense, and slip-ups like the one we had today, they're going to take advantage and rip you. We better focus if we want anything out of this series." dweaver99027
what is your batting angle, dweaver??? I'm using cam 6 for pitching (behind the pitcher) and cam 5 for batting. Wow, great dynasty so far. Im really liking what you have put together hear. You didnt really start off that good, but now your back in the hunt. Great Job!!! Thanks. It was a rough start, and I always have trouble gainst powerful lineups like the Yankees' and Rangers'. 14-9 now, top of the AL west. End of the month coming up, there'll be an April recap with player stats and league standings.

dweaver99027
April 30, 2006 OAKLAND ATHLETICS 4 @ KANSAS CITY ROYALS 2 Team Record:15-9 Game Notes: Inning 2: Bottom: RBI double by Mientkiewicz. 1-0 Sac Fly by Mark Teahen. 2-0 Inning 3: Top: RBI double by Kotsay, Scutaro scores. 2-1 Chavez drives in Kotsay from second with a line drive to the left. 2-2 RBI single by Payton. 2-3 Inning 8: Top: Frank Thomas hits a solo HR, his first of the season. 2-4 Inning 9: Bottom: Huston Street allows the bases to load with 1 out, but Grudzielanek's long fly ball is caught 4 feet inside the park by Payton to end the game. Oakland recovers fast from early 0-2 deficit, gets another win on the road... Below: Joe Blanton gave up 2 runs in the second, but was spectacular for the rest of the 6 innings he pitched, all the while the A's grinded some runs in and Frank Thomas celebrated his long overdue first home run of the season. In the end, Huston Street notched a hard save... Kansas City once again went into this one the better side, scoring 2 runs in the second, but it was not to last, yet again. The Athletics got runners on base and moved them into scoring position, resulting in 3 runs scored in the 3rd inning. The visitors were not really threatened by the Royals' offense at any point , up until the bottom of the 9th. Frank Thomas hit his first home run of the season after a 23 game dry spell, and made it 4-2. Huston Street came on in the 9th to get the save, and he nearly blew it, allowing the bases to get jammed with only one out, but in the end, Mark Grudzielanek's long fly ball to left did not turn into a walk off Grand Slam, as it landed a few feet short, with Jay Payton recording an easy catch. . I'm pleased with my performances so far in the season, hopefully I can be as helpful to my team down the stretch. Huston Street":I nearly blew it there in the end, threw 2-3 straight bad pitches dead center and got hit hard. When Grudzielanek hit that fly ball in the last out, my blood froze but I got right back down to Earth when Jay caught it inside the park. M. Grudzielanek :" I was awful today...I had a chance to give us the win, but the wind just robbed me of teh winning homer in the end. That's baseball, sometimes luck is with you, sometimes it's battling you at every turn."
dweaver99027
Same hear, i use to have a redsox dynasty and hated playing the yankees like 8 times in the first month. Yup. One mistake, and it's a grand slam by A-Rod or something like that. especially with teh sliders I'm using. I really like your Dynasty (my 3rd fav other than cyberJay's and Luals). keep up the good work, dweaver! Thanks you. I hope you'll be around when the season heats up. How is Charles Thomas doing in your system? I am thinking og aquiring him in my Ms dynasty. Razz Keep up the good work *thumbs up* Thomas was doing so-so in Sacramento's simmed games, and now he's been in the show for 3 or 4 games after Bradley got injured and a spot on the bench was cleared. He's being ued for pinch hitting against righties and for some late inning defense at the outfield corners, and he's doing pretty well. I say get him. Just don't the rip the A's off in doing so, lol. Hey Dweaver, Im following, and its looking good. It gives me some ideas to kind of condure up some new flava on mine...........really looks good, keep it up. Thansk man, I'll be following yours as well. NOTE: I'm thinking of speeding things up a bit, playing only one full game in a series and intervening the rest in the 8th. Will move the monster 162 game season faster.
aaronuconn
If you are goin to intervene i would do it in about the 6th. That way you are still pitching with your starters...unless they get injured or alow 7 runs.

Below: Mike Redman pithced exceptionally for 7 innings and allowed only one runs and a few hits to go with it, all the while Joe Kennedy's left arm gave up all 4 runs in the first two innings, despite going almost hitless up until the 7th. Ken Macha got the boot for the second time this season, and the Royals walked out of this one the winners... Ken Macha decided to go with Joe Kennedy as his starter in this game, skipping Kirk Saarloos' spot in the rotation, in order to take advantage of Kansas City's poor to awful lineup against lefties. Good plan on paper, but it backfired in the first two innings, when Kennedy gave up 8 hits and 4 runs. Taking into consideration Mike Redman's excellent day on the mound and the A's hitters' daily regression, those early game defensive lapses where pretty much enough to seal the deal in favor of the home side. Kansas City got its 10th win of the season and avoided getting swept in this series.. . WP:Mike Redman (4-0) J. Kennedy (2-2) SV: J. Jason (Kendall) tagged their runner at home plate, that was obvious to all, even the blind! That call was ridiculous, you'd bet I'll storm out of the dugout if I see another one of those!
