JPL03
Is this possible? to my knowledge it only rains in sf and seattle. i have never had it rain in florida or pittsburgh two places it rains alot. and also is it possible to change the rain .fsh file (if there is one) to look like snow? that would be awsome to see snow in coors. :D
JPL03
after further review, this may not be possible as i cannot find which stadium file makes it rain.
Pirate
We have been looking into this for a while. I would like to see rain a little more often. Maybe some more research is needed.
Kriegz
I don't think anyone currently knows which files to edit for this.
69Yanks
Tried a few times to find the key: Tried to trick the game by renaming Yankeenite Safenite. When the game started, the Safenite is shown but the announcers say welcome to the bronx so the team drives the announcer audio file who do talk about the weather. Maybe when creating a dynasty, the .sav file coding built in to trigger rain graphic and aninmation. The datafile has no info on rain and Safeco or SBC. the MVP.exe hex edit view did not show anything I could find. I think the coding is tied to the teams that have rain. Giants and Seattle. I forget but does it rain in non dyanasty games at these parks? I know the sleeves only show up if your run a dynasty with Seattle and set wind to above 15mph night game an April. For the sleeves issue, the dynasty file ?.sav maybe has some key info on this. Just some thoughts
biker_jim_uk
do you mean you see a night Yankee stadium, even though you are choosing Safeco? And what are you looking for in the exe, a section saying 'RAIN Y'??? It'll most likely be a 1 or 0 stuck in the middle, not something obvious unless you can work out the stadium offsets. Pirate
I might have figured this out. In each stadium .big file is an .ifo file. Inside that may be the controls for rain at Safeco. Most stadiums have nothing in that file. I have renamed and moved stadiums and never has it retained it's audio. From what I have gathered stadiums are for the most part controlled directly within the .big file. The only things outside those files that are in a stadium is the misc graphics, i.e. Bernie the Brewer and the Apple.
Sean O
I might have figured this out. I will check when I get home. Whoa, that would be hot. Is it within the park's .big file itself? I don't recall seeing raindrops in the cram32s of safeco or ST stadium 2, but if there's a way to activate it, that'd be hot. I'm a little worried since, if it was an easy sort of add-on, I would figure EA would've put it in all parks. Hoping for the best. And hopefully you can locate whatever causes the roof to close as well. my guess is, the roof would be in the removable.o file, since that would make sense. 69Yanks
biker_jim: When just taking Safenite and renaming it Yanknite in the Stadium folder, you see the Safenite stadium in the game. The announcer, Krukow or his side kick, still refers to being NY. Regarding the MVP.exe file, I know as you scroll down in a Hexeditor program, there is some text that shows in the right window when you scroll almost to the end. northpaw
would ea tell u something like that?
biker_jim_uk
no they won't tell us 69yank, that shows the audio isn't linked to the big file. And how do you know it doesn't rain, have you tried enough games? I am unsure how you force rain in Seattle?
Sean O
would ea tell u something like that? EA won't even tell us what's in the patches they release, so no. Unfortunately, we're on our own here, unless we can involve nba live / nhl / madden folks as well.
biker_jim_uk
but it doesn't rain much in NBA or NHL, so they might not be much help? :p
sustorm
maybe talking to madden folks there could be something in the code that indicates rain, i know you can just turn rain and snow on in madden so it probably wont help but maybe EA used some sort of parallel in the codes for rain in both games. Also is there a file that controls the wind speed and direction? if so maybe the rain feature is hidden in there. I am just trying to throw out some ideas. Thanks for all the hard work guys. The Big O
Digging into this a little bit I found the controls for the animation for the roof closure. It is controled in the ganim.csv file in the Safeco stadium files. It calls a graphic called "roof" and has two sets of coordinates, one start and one finish I would assume. Seeing as there is a roof.o file in the data/misc folder one would assume that this is the file that is used and could be modified to fit a ballpark like Minute Maid or something similar and then the ganim.csv file could be modified or copied from Safeco so that the roof would close. Still nothing about the rain yet but I'll keep looking... Update: Just opened up the roof.o and it is definately Safeco's roof...
biker_jim_uk
there is also a tanim that has info about sky in safeco but none in a001 for eg, tried changing the a001 to use the Safeco one but had no rain yet

The Big O
Keep digging O, find out why that roof opens and when! Well I just hexedited the MVP2005.exe and found ROOF_CLOSE as one of the entries and that is the action that is called in the ganim.csv. So it appears the roof closure is hard coded somehow. Update - More digging: Found a Set Rain Pattern, Rain Pattern, Set Particles entry in the .exe so it definately appears that this is hardcoded into the .exe...
