All I'm saying is, it may not be easy to get the interest for people to oedit it, while I can VW something relatively quickly and very well. Oedit ain't easy, and this could be a drastically better solution.

I mean, most likely, the winner will be a new, strange design that will be ridiculously difficult in oedit. But, we'll play it by ear. I'd like to see interest from some other modders before I commit, or even say it's likely, the winner will be oedited.

How bout we decide on this when the winners park is revealed. If it's too hard to design, we do the runner ups. And if that is too hard, well, screw it.

I didn't think the object was to wow the judges with some strange and crazy design. My new A's park has a little bit of everything that makes a great ballpark, a piece of history (left field grandstand to resemble Shibe Park), beautiful scenery (a marina beyond right-center), and a defining feature (small glass building with a sail that says "A's" on it to look like a sailboat and compliment the marina beyond the stadium)

my tip to all contestants: think like a modern stadium architect and try to implement modern ideas while adding in pieces of history

I think it shouldnt be made in Oedit. Just for the simple fact that I wanna see the New Busch and the other stadiums that need upgrades. I know Oedit is difficult and who knows yet what is changing in the ballparks around the league. Too distract the stadiums modders with something like this is avoidable.

Sorry, let me clarify that. No, not all of the parks should be unique, weird designs, because that's not necessary. But even Busch III, which is pretty much just a mashup of previous stadium aspects, is really difficult to create well in oedit. I was hoping to somehow fix up Ameriquest's weird right field seating with Busch, but it would've just been a total mess, and not worth it.

The bottom line is, oedit is difficult, even for simple matters. There is a reason I analyze countless photographs and ground plans before I start work on a single classic park, because if I don't know how I'm going to do every single modification, then it just won't get done.

Even the most traditional designs require tremendous investment, while in Vectorworks, it's wide open.

I guess I should see where your coming from because if you've been to theperfectgame.net and checked out my RFK Stadium for High Heat, it's virtually just a simple cookie-cutter park but tooks months to complete to get every little detail as perfect as possible (I used a program called ZModeler and requested the designer of the program to make a patch that could open High Heat .dff files, and Zmod is a whole lot simpler to use than OEdit). I actually tried to get the designer to add a .o/.ord/.orl filter so it could be used with MVP 05 Stadiums to make the whole stadium editing job easier, but he said it would be impossible.

A 3d rendering is still nice...

As for my stadium...i'm having trouble finding a lot. The goal of the stadium is to have some nice scnerey in the outfield (mountains or ocean)

I am not concerned if mine cannot be made. I am just having a good time designing a park. If all I get is to show my final product on this site, then that is fine with me. I say a full 3D rendering is good enough. I would be more then happy to see that as a final prize.

This is what I get out of an hour and a half of boredom in English class. DOn't worry, I didn't miss any work, we had a sub and we were watching a movie. I'm not quite done yet though.

Here's a new version of Wrigley Field I've been working on:

I still haven't given any exact definition to the seating, just a general outline. The idea here was to retain much of the classic elements of the original Wrigley Field (ivy on the outfield wall, bushes in center field, large scoreboard in center, outfield bleachers right on the wall), just bigger and better. Plus, it's got an incredible view of the Chicago skyline from the north and the gold coast on Lake Shore Drive.

I remember driving through that area on lake shore when I lived in chicago. Great idea.

Your work looks great so far, I'm looking forward to seeing it fleshed out.

Welcome to the new (possibly temporary) digs for the Park Design Competition! We're working on some things now, and getting everything in order for finale. I'm withdrawing my park from the competition, so i'll just take over as the leader and first judge of the competition itself.

Stay tuned for a whole lot more interesting stuff, because the best is yet to come.

In the mean time, though I'm not entering it into the project, here's an updated picture of my park, from the last row of the upper deck.

I'll keep updating it as the project comes along. I'm excited to be independent of the competition, because I've already solved many of the intense technical problems involved in piecing together a park. So if you have any questions about how to bring things together, you're always welcome to PM me.

Man, I love parks, and design. Even with the frustrating parts, seeing the end result is always so worth it.

I just got a new hard drive and beleive it or not I got so caught up in figuring what files too back up from my old HD that I totally forgot about the stadium I was doin. So maybe in a day or two, after I get things ironed out, i'll put back in the old drive and get the stadium off of it.

I know I've been saying I'll upload pictures, but I've been getting sidetracked. I'll try and upload some tonight.

BTW: Is there still a chance of the park actually going into the game?
