hey guys...when playing IP to IP...do each players get to pick a camera angle, or is there just one universal choice that has to be made? so it cant be like a 6/5 it woudl have to be a 5 or 6 for the both of us?

also, is there anyway to improve lag in online games?

as far as lag goes, your modem bandwidth is important (cable/dsl is most desireable), your video card (generally anything within a couple of years old will be do fine), and your video detail settings matter most (don't have resolution or aa and af maxed out). You should also try to close processes that aren't necessary such as im clients, weather info apps, etc. that could be taking up RAM or could go out to the internet and rob some of your bandwidth while you are playing. Generally, even with the fastest PCs you are always going to have a small amount of lag when playing ip to ip, which makes you have to alter your timing a little bit, especially with the pitching meter. I'm saying all this based on a four year old computer with an AMD 1700 with 512 MB RAM, cable modem, and a Radeon 9600XT video card running the game, so you may want to adjust as you see fit based on your setup.

On another note, do you have any good info about the league that's based in Europe? I was in a league for two seasons last year, but they played 5 games/week which was just too much with everything else I have going on. If this euroleague is 3 games per week I am very interested in joining.

hey...thanks a lot. here is the league site...http://mvpeurope.altervista.org/. check it out. i think it will be fun, as long as the lag isnt as bad as it was the last game. i have a little bit of bad news though...i've already snatched up the reds...and it looks like that's who you'd want. the braves are, without a doubt, my team...but they were taken...so i went with the reds. if you end up joining and dont have a second favorite team you'd enjoy having...maybe could work something out...but if that's the case, join soon cause i'm actually in the midst of some fairly big trades that could really change the team. so let me know quick if you want me to bow out of those.

Well, i'd prefer the Reds for sure. At the same time, i don't want to just take your team from you. Who are you trading by the way? I'll check out the league this evening and if I join, maybe we can work something out with the Reds.

Were you playing someone in the U.S. ip to ip or in Europe? If it was an overseas connection that could definitely explain the lag.

The most important factor in playing IP to IP games is the LATENCY TIME, you can check it with a PING command or TRACERT from your command line.

Lower duration in ms, better is the gameplay. In overseas connection cause of that 'damned ' ocean the latency time will never be so good as playing USA vs USA or EU vs EU but we can try to improve it as Aodaniel said, closing all your peer to peer utilities or messenger as MSN, AIM, ICQ.

In our league we use a VPN (virtual private network) tool named Hamachi 0.9.9.9 downloadable here. It improves connection timing and makes shorter waiting times for connection.

BTW distance between Europe and USA is the reason we have thought to play two separate leagues but World Series and All Star Week.

Anyway I believe we can have fun 'living' our League by the Forum and all talkings we'll do there... :D

P.S. To Aodaniel, join us before brett can destroy your favourite team  :D

hah...i'm trying to destroy them now...but rene (braves gm) didnt go for the deal that would bring me his 3 best players...wonder why he didnt go for it:) anyway...i'd be willing to give up the reds if you gave me a deal with a trade. i like the reds, i dont just want to 'give' them up...but if you would cut me a deal on Freel or Kearns...then we'd be in business. i'll do some research and see who i'd go with if i dont go with the reds...you really thinking of joining the league?

so you're trying to turn the reds into the Braves North huh? i am thinking of joining the league. i just want to check out the site, look at the rules, and see how things run before deciding. i believe a deal could be made pretty easily for kearns or freel.

sounds great...i'll probably go with the cubs organization if you join and go with the reds...a possible trade might be something like freel and dunn for j. jones and a. ramierez....not sure though. i'll do some research when i get home. post your thoughts on the league tonight. if we dont get more americans in the league before too long, trades wont matter cause there wont be a league.

It will be an only europeans league  but I'd rather to see a more competitive league with guys from USA too.

Baseball = american past game, isn't it?

Ciao

Thanks for the tip on the application. Hmmm....3 games/wk. If it doesn't look overly involved like I've seen other leagues do, I would consider it if players are still needed.

buffa, do we have use of the minor league for the teams for calling players up/down? Also have you considered allowing each owner to have themselves as a created player on their team. The league I was in before did that and it was great and just made your team and playing more interesting. The created player was basically a utility player that could play anywhere but catcher and his ratings were 80 for everything.

buffa and rene, in an attempt to get more USA players, what are the chances we could say only 3 series a month? which would leave one week off? it might make it easier for daf and others to commit to fill the us league. the europe league wouldnt have to follow suit, but i have no idea if that would throw everything out of whack...just a thought i had.
