Yes and it depends. Some of them play with 2005 without having to do anything, others have to have modifications before it'll work.

Try it and let us know. If it doesn't work, post what model adapter you have.

ideally you should just be able to plug the adapter into your USB port and you are good to go. sometimes you will get a driver program and if windows doesn't recognize it then you will need the drivers.

I picked one up at radio shack and its not working properly for me.

I cannot get the joystick to work. I followed the registry edit posted in another thread, but something weird is going on.

The registry edit said there would be 4 folders in the final step and I wanted to edit the name of the OEMName folder, however, I had like 16 folders and they had weird names with like 10 numbers.

I did, but this didn't work. Maybe I did it wrong. I copied that profile and went into the controller.cfg file in my documents/mvp baseball 2005 and opened the controller.cfg and pasted that stuff over the old configuration and saved it.

I just can't get the analog to work.

This isn't just a copy-and-paste job. Did you make the changes I stated in the linked post? If you didn't then I'll will explain again:

(WARNING: 600K+ pics, dial-up users beware)

Plug your adapter in.

Go to your Control Panel.

Double-click the Game Controllers icon

Take note (most important step) of the name Windows gives your adapter. For example, my adapter's name is "USB Joystick," but yours may be different from mine.

Let's use another example: Windows identifies my adapter as Snotty Nose. I would write that name down, type it notepad, or whatever.

Go to Notepad and open your controller.cfg. What I'm about to do is to make MVP detect my controller Snotty Nose. Not to simply copy-and-paste what some guy said on an Internet forum, but I'll copy, paste, and then make some changes for my adapter Snotty Nose.

Here's some guy's controller.cfg:

Since my adapter's name isn't "USB Joystick" but "Snotty Nose," I'll make the following changes: The bolded portions shown above in the cfg needs to be changed for my Snotty Nose adapter.

After device and profile should read: Snotty_Nose. Here's what it should look like:

profile= Snotty_Nose

device= Snotty_Nose

.

.

.

Save the cfg and close.

That was just an example. Of course your controller isn't named Snotty Nose, but whatever name Windows gave it, it is important for you to remember/write it/notepad it. Also, any spaces between words must be changed to underscores (hold shift and press the dash key which is to the right of zero). This should work for those with the Radio Shack PS2 adapter. I believe I first found this on these forums.

This doesn't make it so my analog stick works. what do you do with the .cfg file you create?

You say there is no copy and paste job, but the file has to go somewhere so I copy it and paste it into the original .cfg that I have in my mvp 2005 folder in my documents.

I do replace the name of my controller before I do the above method. For example, mine is named USB Dual Vibration Joystick.

No problem, runaway. Back to the other case:

That's strange. Does the game detect your controller at all? So if it did, your analog sticks don't work? Are you using the official Sony controller?

By the way, "not just copy-and-paste" means that there's more than copying-and-pasting involved. Don't sweat the small stuff!

Stupid question: Is the analog button pressed in?

Oh do I have egg on my face...lol.

Egg%20on%20My%20Face.gif

That did the trick, but I discoverd that my PS2's analog stick must be really loose because it won't stay in one place when I don't even touch the stick, the ball cursor moves all around. Thanks guys, I am an idiot.
