DJEagles
Well it was a horrible Olympics for both Canadian and American Hockey Teams. I haven't watched any of the american games, but I saw all but one of the canadians. I have to say that Team Canada looked old, and that is eing polite. The defense looked slow and out of place, and don't get me started on Bryan McCabe. The Russian game, which Canada just lost, had Ovechkin blowing by the Canadian defense every chance he got. Gretzky, Lowe, Quinn should have picked a younger faster team. Spezza, Phaneuf, and Crosby should have been playing, but it looked like the team this year was picked out of loyalty to the older veterans. What a disgrace...atleast 2010 is only 4 years away, and alot of the young guys will have had a few NHL seasons under their belt. I refuse to say "nice try" to this overpaid, over-hyped hockey team, they looked uninspired out there, and should be ashamed of themselves. Gretzky should be ashamed for leaving out the younger guys! I sure am glad Yzerman wasn't able to play, dear lord, that would just have slowed the team down further... ...as for the americans, hope they don't pitch a fit and wreck another hotel room...When are both of these countries going to realize, it's time for the kids, not the older guys.... Hoop27
ya it wasn't pretty man. Lets hope it's just a blip for Canada.
ixcuincle
I am not as mad as I was yesterday but still it is a huge disappointment for the United States. This was a team that I projected to finish in the medal rounds , instead they were eliminated and didn't even see the medal round. It would have been appropriate for them to win on the anniversary of the "Miracle on Ice" , but unfortunately they didn't. Hopefully this streak of the Americans losing in sports they should win like basketball and hockey will end soon.
bravesj858
mabye the professionals should be kicked out of the olympics and the ameturs should play in the games like the old days. tradionally, it was reserved for the best ametur athletes, not the pros. the pros problay don't care about the olympics. DJEagles
I see MOdano skipped out early, decided against attending the final Team USA meeting, hopped a jet, and got the heck out of Dodge. That's class folks! Another reason why the Olympics wshould be ametuers and not professionals.
copecowboy
Brutal on the canucks part, we didnt do to bad(americans) considering we only lost our games by 1 goal, we werent expected to do very much anyway.
I.Am.Canadian
Tell me about it. As a Canadian, I was disappointed in Canada's showing at the Olympics, and even the Americans weren't hot. On nhl.com the poll said that 80% of people thought Canada would win the gold. At least we pulled up our socks in other areas. 24 medals ain't a bad showing at all. Only one less than the Americans, and without men's hockey, too!
DJEagles
The olympics as a whole were quite successful for Canada. Made me proud to be a canadian. As for hovkey, well it's time to bring back the amatuers. IMO.
Hoop27
Actually if I could run the olympic tournament I would instead of having a world junior championship on olympic years have the juniors play in the olympics. A) Amateur Players (kinda) Quite possibly the best hockey tournament that no one outside of Canada seems to pay attention to.
DJEagles
Hoop27, It has actually been mentioned on TSN and Sportsnet, that the Jrs. should be apart of the Olympics. That would be amazing. Although I would miss it over Christmas break, as it has become part of my holiday routine, it would be a fantastic addition to the olympics.
