dochase
Hey Hoop Tried your sliders The only thing that I find is a lot of first pitch contact/base hits. I know some will say to not throw down the middle...I don't, I pitch by thinking first, corners, low, high, blue, etc. The problem with the first pitch/strike ball in play is it results in low pitch counts and strikeouts. I do get 3-4 and sometimes more, but never a dominant game of 10+. Anyway, just thought I would pass that on. D
Hoop27
wow ok I havent had that problem myself but what you can do is lower the CPU Swing Frequency a bit more (say -30 or so) and see how that works for ya. I'm usually throwing 90-120 or so pitches myself (not with one pitcher) a game. If you end up needing a bit more challenge down the road turn off the hot/cold zones I started doing it a while back and enjoyed it.
skro23
If i want to make the computer get more hits does the slider have to be in the negative or positive?
Hoop27
up the CPU contact slider (positive)
spunkyXL
does negative batting contact/power actually improve or lessen the batting contact?..I'm getting a lil mixed up with the negatives

m4g1c
Anyone else finding hitting a little too easy? Either that or the computer doesn't score enough runs on me. I can pretty much score 5 or more runs 99% of the games I play. I was thinking of decreasing my hitting quite a bit, or increasing the computer's. If anyone else agrees with me, let me know what you think would be a good solution, otherwise I'll just play around with it.
Hoop27
If you are finding hitting too easy try lowering your user batting contact slider. Or what I've done lately is I turned hitters eye off (basically you dont see any color while the pitcher is winding up. Makes hitting tougher IMO. m4g1c
Thanks, that seems like it's gonna work out. I just played my first game and it was a little rough because I face a pitcher with a 91 mph 4 seemer and slider, which makes the slider seem so much faster. Not to mention he flips up a 77 curveball and a 71 changeup.
Hoop27
oh yah just wait for that 2-0 changeup. nothing will make you bang your head off your keyboard more than that LOL

ChadRogers
A question about the errors please. On user catch errors, if I want them to make more errors should I have the number positive or negative? I have the throw accuracy negative for both and I assume that will help, but I am not sure which way to go on the catch errors. *one more, what is catch effort? Thanks, Chad

ddochi11
i am playing on keyboards on a laptop... and manual says 2,4,6,8 are the buttons to control swings but for some reason i can't control my hitter's swings... so basically they are all normal swings... it's really hard to hit homeruns... i got pujols with 2 homeruns through 14 games... A-Rod and and Jeter with 1 each... as a team, we got 5 homers... DeJesus is the other guy with 1 homer... i put the User Power at 50 and still can't hit homers... any suggestions? if only a joypad will solve this problem, then don't even mention it... any way of getting around it without the joypad? Dweight
For the most part, I like these sliders but I had a few problems with them: -CPU seems to never, ever chase a pitch out of the strike zone which means even 0-2 I have to give them something to hit. I can count on one hand how many times I've punched a guy out on a pitch that would have been called a ball. -Even my best control pitchers struggle to throw strikes. I end up 3-0 or 3-1 all the time because even when I hit the brown area on the release, they often throw a ball. -CPU never attempts steals (maybe because I play with Detroit and they don't want to run on Pudge) So far, I think the most strikeouts I've had in a game is 5. It's hard to get Ks when the CPU won't swing at balls no matter how close they are. A perfect example of the kind of stuff that happens to me is what happened today when I was playing a game. I'm playing the Indians and I'm up 4-2 going into the top of the 8th. I had Joel Zumaya pitching and he got the first guy out and then gave up a walk and single. The CPU had a left handed batter followed by a switch and another lefty coming up so I bring in Jamie Walker. Now I brought Walker in for two reasons. First of all, obviously, because he's left handed and there's lefties coming up to bat. The other reason was because he's a control pitcher that I figured would make the CPU have to get hits for runs. So what happened? Walker proceeded to issue walks to the next two hitters on 5 pitches and 6 pitches respectively. Now I'll admit I had a couple bad pitches in those 2 ABs but most of the pitches were released properly but aimed for the edges of the strike zone and sailed wide. So I now have bases loaded, 1 out and a lefty up. Start him strike 1 and the next pitch I put low and inside in a blue area and release it perfectly. Grand Slam and I end up losing by 2 runs. Needless to say, I was a bit pissed about that. It happens pretty frequently though (being unable to throw strikes without aiming for the middle third of the plate). Anyway, long winded explanation but basically I've changed the user pitch difficulty and CPU swing frequency and we'll see what that does.
69Yanks
Scout your batter and know his hot zones. Try not to land the pitch in there. That has helped me. Thanks Hoop for the sliders. I now have to concentrate on pitching. Fun!

If the CPU isnt swinging enough for you. just bump the swing frequency slider a bit higher. the balls/strikes thing is basically a part of the mod. try jakking your piching control sliders. (once you get used to it you will notice where the ball will go depending on what side of the green you hit.) as for the CPU stealing I dont have this problem at all so I'm guessing pudge has something to do with it. However you can just increase the CPU steal rate and they should try a bit more. hope that helps. but the big key is watch where the ball goes depending on what side of the green your hitting when you pitch. (once I did that my K's have gone up. I had 11 as my high.)
DaDonch44
Hoop27, Just wanted to thank you for putting in all the time and effort in creating your sliders... I have been using them for a while and they definitely have added an extra challenge of concentrating on pitching (as 69Yanks mentioned)... sometimes it gets frustrating when I can't throw a strike, but thats baseball... They're awesome!!! :D
Hoop27
thanks and dont be afraid to tinker with them, if it doesnt quite suit you. (aka the pitch meter is too hard just bump the slider to make it a bit easier)
