Hoop27's MVP 06 Allstar Sliders V2.2 (Final)

the only thing i have noticed that has happened a couple of times, I don't know if it even has to do with the slider set up is:

I would have a baserunner on first and hit a single to the outfield (usually right-center/right field), the baserunner would advance to third no problem, and the defense would field the ball and relay it in. the relay throw would get cut off by the first baseman or whoever the cutoff man was, and then they would throw to first and pick off the hitter because he would make too big of a turn on a routine single.

usually when i run the bases i control the lead runner and i would stop him at third in this situation, and the computer would control the batter as he went to first...

I know I can just switch to the trailing runner and make him stop at first, but i was wondering if i could solve the problem by tweaking a certain slider??

thanks hoop :)

hmmm I have seen this once. best guess but i would be careful about tweaking it too much. is the cpu baserunning aggresiveness. maybe turn it down a point or two.

ya the problem with that though is it will affect the cpu in all aspects of baserunning. try it out I'd be curious to see if it helps!

Is there a recommended dat file to use with these to change ball physics and such? I was thinking of trying Ctg(no more juice)dat or the Kumala dat file for better ball physics. Does anyone use either of these with these sliders..

i set it down to 5 and so far it seems to be helping... for the most part they are just rounding first and heading back to the bag

hey hoop, none of the sliders effect how often the runners slide right? i know a lot of people have mentioned it, and i didnt notice it until last night, that the runners do slide alot for no reason. i wasnt sure if it was a slider issue or just a mod issue.

Yeah, I'm curious what datafile you use with your sliders, right now i'm using MD's datafile...

keep me updated on the aggresiveness at 5. (more along what the CPU team does)

I dont think the sliders have anything to do with sliding.

I use Kraw's beta datafile with the 06 mod myself. but i know of a few people that use it with Maddies as well.

hoop,

last night i was playing at oakland...

runner on 1st...(Frank Thomas)

they hit a sure double to the gap in left center... i get the ball and relay it in...(unfortunately for me, I missed the cutoff man, and it rolled to the first baseman at the pitchers mound, gotta love Johnny Damon's arm).

thomas stopped at 3rd (big turn went about 1/3 of the way towards home and went back) when the normal guy probably could have walked in

thats the only play so far thats been iffy, everything else has been great...

so i figure he stopped either b/c he is slow as hell or b/c the slider is at 5... lol... ill keep reporting back... :D

Hy Hoop!!

First of all I would like to thank u for posting your sliders!!! Its quite challengeing for me!! Nice work there!!

I basiclly have the same problem as posted already: the CPU does never chase the ball and I have really problems in throwing strikes.

With the strikes Iam getting better (have played about 5 games with your sliders). Iam going step by step. In my last game I had about 7 stikes....Iam getting better slowly....still remember the first game with 2..

Then the other problem that I have is that I always finish with only about 3 to 5 hits per game. I probably dont have to tell u that I have lost all my games, lol!!!

I guess I can improve that if I higher a bit the User batting contact and the User batting power, right??

So thanks again for posting your sliders. This really makes an excellent game even better!!!

Btw, Iam playing with the MVP 06 Mod and with the Ultimate Roster 6.4. Nice work guys!!!

Greets from Spain and sorry for my poor english!!

pitching gets easier you just have to keep at it. what difficulty are you playing on? on all star it works perfectly for me.

Iam playing All-Star, but I have the fielding in assisted (too hard for me if I also have to run behind the ball, lol) and yes, it gets better the more I play.....now I only have to learn to hit the ball too, lol!!!

hey hoop great sliders! i have just a few things i've expeirenced while playing and hope u can help me out:

1) CPU gets waaaayy too many hits (yet not capatalizing on them), they always hit 10+ hits in one game and scoring 3~4 runs, while i only hit around 4~6 hits and get the same amount of runs (lower CPU contact?)

2) too many walks and balls by the CPU, if i take and take i can get around 6 walks a game (from decent control pitchers), but when i dont (and i normally dont i just swing at close to the location i'm guessing) then i end up poping out and grounding out weakly (lower CPU ball rate or control?)

3) my hitting sucks! as mentioned before, i only get around 4~6 hits a game. And that's with a Blue Jays lineup that got Delgado back via trade (i put Hillenbrand at SS).

4) As somebosy already mentioned before. My pitchers (starting pitchers especially) have very few strikeouts, in the games i've played my pitchers

i've had a couple of 0 k games and 1 k games. Which i think is caused from the lack of control from my pitchers (cuz i suck!)

Other than that the sliders are really great! The game has become a lot more challenging and a lot more realistic than before! Great job!

first off sorry for taking so long to get to you on this. (been insane renovating new place :) ) so lets see if we can help you on this...

1)CPU contact will help here, also just how you pitch will as well... what I mean is changing zones going inside/outside etc etc. but i think you have the idea there with cpu contact. also increasing the pitch meter accuracy for yourself could help.

2)there is no perfect fix for this I have found. the best thing I do is either increase CPU pitch control. or (and this is what I did) I turn off every aid except for the strike zone. and I find myself chasing far more pitches which equals less walks.

3) no suprise here. it takes a fair bit of practice to get better at hitting I'd say keep practicing and also with 2 strikes be very defensive at the plate (think slapping it the other way etc.) also try and work the count into your favor and then look for a certain pitch in a certain area. (aka 2-0 count sit fastball middle in, and if it comes pound the [naughty word] out of it :D ) You can also just increase the user contact slider too.

4) the trick I have found recently since you can never get a 'perfect' throw with the pitch meter (at least for me with the beta datafile i cant) I have found depending on which side of the perfect line I stop the meter at it will throw inside/outside that much more. and after practicing I can control the miss a little better than before. So essentially I aim for the corner and hit the meter in the K area but where i stop it, it will miss a hair outside so the pitch will be a few inches off the plate. also fastballs high out of the K zone, and splitters and change ups low often the CPU will chase those. The other thing is if you dont have your pitch aim icon showing you can turn that on and that will increase your K's.

But as I've said before sliders are very individualized. tinker with them all you need to find the perfect gameplay for yourself and good luck!

LOL I actually play with auto fielding. I'm an old manage only mode, and find I get the best results if i let the cpu field than rather me running around there like a moron trying to make plays! LOL but play anyway that makes the game fun for you!

yup bumping your user contact rating will help. also going with the pitch works for me too... so if the computer throws and outside slider. I'll try and slap it the other way. or if the computer throws and inside pitch I'll try to pull etc etc. The biggest thing is practice though.

hey hoop... just an update.... ive played about 25 games with the sliders... its been great having the cpu aggression at 5...

no more runners getting tagged out at first

the cpu running itself works great (scoring from first on a double to the gap, getting a triple when it can)... they dont do anything stupid or out of the ordinary

its awesome... you da man !!!

for the cpu runner aggression are you talking about raising it to -5? On the first page it has CPU runner aggression listed as -7. Its just confusing me a little bit, some help would be appreciated.

Hey hoop a couple things i have questions about. I have been using your sliders a long time and they are great except I never seem to commit errors like the PC does. I have user catch errors at 25 to hopefully increase errors commited, but it does not seem to be doing anything. Maybe I should adjust throwing accuracy as well for the human.

Another thing is the CPU seems hesitant to try to throw runners out at home. I am thinking this might be due to the fact that CPU throw accuracy is down. Do you think there could be a correlation between that? Maybe the CPU does not want to risk the error so it does not attempt the throw?

I guess I need to do some fiddling. Besides that great sliders I have been using them for a long time and they still give me a challenge. All though I seem to keep reducing my pitch meter difficulty because pitching becomes too easy.

i play on auto fielding myself so the slider for fielding was a guess. take a stab at fiddling with it till it feels right (id love to hear your progress) I've found the throw to the play is dependant on the game situation myself. aka they will concede the run early and try to nail him late. but there could be something to that, though i think that would be more hardcoded into the game.

ya I adjust the pitch meter myself, but i wont make that a change in the slider set. since i was just trying to put out a good starter set.

Hoop,

Thanks for your hard work on the sliders. I've been frustrated for the last year trying to find sliders that work well and just when I do it seems there is an update to the game that changes everything. :)

Your sliders seem great and I love a good hard game as long as I know someone out there is doing well with these settings. I am playing with the Orioles so my pitchers are challenged as it is. In my first 4 games I am 1 - 3 losing two of the games by double digits.

I just want to confirm that others out there are having realistic results with these settings. BTW, I am using the ultimate rosters also. Other then a few really bad innings all seems well and I just need to commit myself to learning how to pitch better.

Thanks,

Nim

I just saw you use Kraws data file. That may be some of the problem I am having. I've just been using the 2006 mod with ultimate rosters.

I can't seem to find Kraw's data file in the data files section... Can someone point me to it please?

Thanks,

Nim
