MLB06 The Show

It's the only version they are allowed to make, or have you missed the whole take two drama?

Sony can make a mlb game for ps2. Nintendo can make a mlb game for their systems. Only take two can make a game for any platform. It's why EA couldn't continue making mvp based on mlb.

why is it that people complain so much about games that are only made for ps2? i understand some people dont have it or just dont like it, but the majority of the people buy it for ps2 beacause they think it's better. imo, i'd rather sit in a front of a 27 inch tv playing a video game than staring into a 17 inch pc monitor. but that's just my opinion.

I saw the commercial...if only MVP 05 had as many cutscenes as MLB06 with the ortiz fist pump around 1st base and the mobbing after a "game winning score". I haven't had enough 9th inning victories in MVP05 to see if they do mob the guy who rounds 3rd in the 9th inning to win the game like they do in the real game.

The graphics may be quite bad (players faces) but the game is still very good ! I got it for my ps2 and after one game I have to say I will play it a lot. The atmosphere blows MVP games. The presentations of games is very good. Commentators do a good work. There are a lot of animations, games are overall longer than in MVP because of that. Ok graphics are not as good as in MVP but except players' faces it looks good considering it's a ps2 game.

Gameplay is very good. Pitching system is almost the same as in mvp. you select your pitch, then you throw the ball with X (same meter system). The difference is that you select where you start the throw. So if you pitch a sinker the ball will drop down and it may be out of the strike zone. But well used you can fool someone when you play against a friend :p . When you bat it is the classic X button for a classic swing. you can use "sqaure" button for a power swing. Right stick to chose if you want to hit a ground or a fly ball etc. But the interesting things are two system that you use when you bat. When pressing R2 you can try to guess what is the next pitch. If you guess right you'll see where the ball is pitched. You can also try to chose where you're gonna swing. Again if you guess right you have more chances to get a hit.

Fielding is quite the same. The are where the ball is gonna drop is a big baseball which size depends on when the ball is gonna fall. When it is high in air the size is big, then small ... The size of the stuff depends on how good your fielder is. Then you throw to a base using X,O ... buttons, no meter, just the pression on the button. Sometimes fielding is strange, players miss easy balls and if you're not exactly in the zone you may not catch it. Baserunning is the same as in MVP, only buttons change.

Rosters are up to date. Giles is the leadoff man before renteria for the braves. There are some errors such as Boone still with the mets but overall it is good and it can be edited. All players have a little line of info displayed when they are showed on screen such as "xxxx NL rookie" or "8th in HR in 2005"

Ig I get used to the fielding it will definately be a very good game and it is worth the buying (or at least the try) for me.

as for the minors there is AAA and AA (most players are fake though) and no there are no real ads but they are better than ea's ads (ex: horizon wired)

and the announcers are Matt Vasgersian, Rex Hudler, and Dave Campbell

I liked the feature thats kind of like superstar mode. It looks more in-depth than Ea's with Madden 06. Love the commercial where it shows a draft bust. Same thing with NBA The Life.

the only thing i dont like about the Career mode is you get to choose which team you are on instead of getting drafted. The game itself has some pretty neat features but Graphically it SUCKS. The grass looks like plastic, players faces are in some cases worse than ea's generic's.

I just bought The Show, I'm having a blast.

Altho, I was looking for a guy named Jeff Clement from USC but hes not in it :'(, the minor leauers aren't real they sound made up.

But I'd say hittting is pretty life like in any other game I'm hitting well above what I do in this game,

Favorite thing is diving into first base with the ball getting guys out.

I have a PS2 and had decided before I purchased MLB 06: The Show that I would probably be buying both this title and the upcoming Major League Baseball 2K6.

I agree with previous reviews that the atmosphere is amazing. You feel as though you are actually watching a game on TV, but you are actually particpating in the action. The animations and overall flow of the game is superb ... better than anything I've seen anywhere else. That's the postive.

The negative, however, is that I don't think that the gameplay matches up with that of MVP 05. Please ... no flames ... this is only my opinion. The interface for pitching and hitting is good, but I just don't the realistic gameplay feel out of the game. One thing that I disagree with in a previous review is that baserunning is the same. It is actually much different. I am not as adept at controlling individual runners and the way that MVP controls baserunning is much more intuitive to me. Being able to press a directional button and have it control the lead runner is much simpler (one less button click) and this is something that MLB 06 does NOT support.

As far as clarity of images, nothing is every going to compare to playing on an computer monitor LCD screen. You are always going to have a fuzzy aspect to a game played on a TV. I play mine on an HDTV with component video cables and it still pales in comparison to my 19" LCD monitor and MVP 05. Couple that with all the mods available in MVP 05 and this game still reigns supreme in my book.

Does this game have Minor leagues like MVP2005. It would be cool if the next MVP game had like you know AAA,AA,A, Low A,and Rookie ball.

As someone said only AAA and AA are in the game (even if they show the A team in the farm organisation when you pick your team in franchise mode) and most of players are fakes. Only the players who have a chance to play in majors are in on the AAA teams.

Who does play by play for the game , and did you see any real-life advertisements in the game?

I got MLB06 for the PSP and I really enjoy it. The play by play on the PSP version is done by Matt Vasgersian, Dave Campbell, and the "Wonder Dog" Rex Hudler. I've only seen a few real advertisements (Rawlings is the only one that comes to mind at the moment).

Something I found funny is Roger Clemens did some of the motion capture for the game, but he is not actually in the game also the minor leagues are not available in the PSP version either. Considering I'm playing on a handheld, the game looks, sounds, and plays great.
