PolishJoe
I also got MLB:06 The Show. Personally, I'd give it 3.5 stars out of 5. Graphics/ Interface Though the player graphics are lacking, the player animations are pretty good. Also, the detail paid to batters stances was superb - I thought. Audio As for the game commentary, there's really no comparison. I love MVP and all, but it wouldn't come close to The Show. Rosters/ GMing That being said, I'm less than pleased with the subpar roster management. The games doesn't feature several not-to-recent transactions. Also, you can't take someone off of free agency and add them to your roster without first starting a franchise. In other words, you have save an entire franchise just to mess with the inaccurate rosters. And to add to what already has been stated, several minor leaguers are in the game - just not properly named. Wouldn't you know that the only thing you can't modify about a player is his name? 8O That's ShullBit! Also, player ratings aren't very detailed either. The one saving grace in the game is the scouting department and coaches. I have to say that it is wonderful. But it does lend itself to ponder why creators who are capable of this dynamic aspect of the game couldn't get the other aforementioned roster stuff correct. :? Gameplay As for the gameplay, I don't uderstand the lack of fielding controls. I need a throw meter - not just because I'm used to MVP titles but also because there is no incentive to field/ throw. In regards to Batting/ Hitting, I do think it's pretty realistic out of the box. True, you can tweak it, but I kind of think it's pretty accurate. Pitching, as mentioned, is almost the same as MVP. But, in favor of The Show, not all pitchers have pin-point control. I do like that. Conclusion If you're a console player only (why are you hear again?), then I think I'd wait until MLB: 2k6 is released (March 20th) or I'd put the effort into converting MVP Baseball 2005. To sum the game up, in my [worthless] opinion, I'd have to say that it's a baseball game for a video-gamer - not a game for a baseball fan.
