fred13
I play on pro difficulty but find it a little to easy, when i try all-star, its a little to hard, what liders would be ideal for a challenge but still on the pro setting?
DaveCenker
This is a tough question because it all depends upon what aspects of the game you are finding difficult or easy. Personally, I felt the same as you. Pro was too easy (too many hits on offense, too many strikeouts on defense) and All-Star was too hard (not enough hits on offense, pummeled by mediocre pitching on defense). Unfortunately, the only really good answer is to start with one of the slider sets available in the forum and tweak them to your playing style strengths and weaknesses. If you would like my opinion (keeping in mind it's only an opinion), I would opt to move up to All-Star and tweak the sliders at that level. Eventually, you are going to get better and I would rather struggle a bit at the beginning and work myself into a more difficult level as I build up experience. I moved up to the All-Star setting with Pared's sliders and Jim's Combo datafile V3.0 (this includes a better balance of walks and strikeouts on both offense and defense). I have only played a few games with these settings but I find it easier than the All-Star level I was playing with before with a much more realistic playing experience. Just my 0.02 ... I hope this helps get you started in the right direction.
MaddiesDaddy
ditto...and I feel the same way. Actually I am liking the ball physics better in Pro mode. I am seeing more opposite field hits (User & CPU), softer grounders amongst other things. But I would like to stay on All Star because there I am finding the CPU rallies more. On Pro I usually know I am going to win by the 5th inning (if I have the lead by then). I am hoping to find a balance somehow by modding the datafile. Jim825
I play on Pro and I use my combo datafile version 3 (the one DaveCenker mentioned). You can find it at http://www.mvpmods.com/Downloads/details/id=2023.html The settings I use are shown below. For my style of play and my abilities, they give me a variety of good games. I get close games, blowouts, extra inning games, etc. Naturally, these settings may not work the same for others. The infielder and outfielder speed settings allow me to see more balls drop in for hits, but don't let everything get through. tks
Jim... I also play pro and have exact gameplay settings except I use view 6/2 (the 2 being a low camera directly behind the batter...many datafiles use that camera as view 2. If not I change the datafile)....Otherwise, we are identical. Also, very similar in most slider settings...except I have Pitch speed=0...bullpen fatigue= +4 (for both)...and have both OF speed at -20 and both IF speed at -15. These settings do seem to provide a lot of variety and appear to be very realistic...Of course, I tend to dabble by using different datafiles and make adjustments to the sliders, just to see what the effects are. fred13
Thanks fo all your input. I'm gonna try your datafile Jim, but I'm just gonna change some of the gameplay settings, e.g strikezone, fielding etc. Thanks again!
scribe80
I've had the game for a while on XBox, and recently bought it for PC (in large part due to this site. Thanks, MVPMods...) It seems to me that the two version are tuned differently, at least it feels that way. Maybe it's Logitech controller v. XBox S controller, who knows. I consider myself a good, not great, veteran gamer ability-wise. I played 10+ PC games on Pro settings without hitting a single home run. I have since jacked the human power to +10 (on PRO!) and have hit only 2 more in 5 more games. That's only 2 HR in almost 20 games on Pro with the power at +10. I don't suck, my point is thus: Had I cranked human power to +10 on Pro level on XBox, I'd have hit an arcadely 20 or more bombs by now. Conversely, if I ported my tougher XBox sliders to PC, I'd be getting crushed all the time. Is it just me or are the versions tuned differently? mrmariner
I also use Jim825's datafile, I am very pleased with it. When I played on pro I used the BigUnits sliders as a starting point and then made some personal tweaks to them, thats the thing about sliders, there is no 100% recommendation that is perfect because everyones playing ability is different. I have since moved to Allstar and made some more tweaks. You can find the BigUnits Pro Sliders in the Misc section.
69Yanks
This is for MaddiesDaddy. Your datafile 2.1 is what I use for the Classics and on Pro I have contact at about 20 and power at 25 and this has helped . But I hear you on the lack of Offense from the cpu so maybe you want to fool around with the following: The datafile has momentum factors that I fooled with last year in part and stopped the big rally cause I was getting beat. MaddiesDaddy
Thanks 69! I have seen these lines but have been using the defaults. I think Rodkey's datafile has mods on these, but I am not sure right now. I'll take a look and perhaps tweak some items here. Thanks again.
