PolishJoe
I have nothing to do with this, but I came upon this tonight: MVP 06 LL Mod Torrent File Also, it looks like the uploader, etc does ensure that he gives all the credit to MVPMods.com. But, I'm just wondering if anyone was actually asked permission to do this? :?

But, I'm just wondering if anyone was actually asked permission to do this? :? You know something? This is the third time that I know of this happening. The first time it was put on the usenet groups. The second time Hory told me about someone trying to SELL this on a website for fifteen dollars and now this. What the hell? All you got to do is join this site and get it for free.
PolishJoe
Sell it? Forget about the legality, that's just being an a$$! As for downloading the mod, you're right about that. Besides that fact that it's probably a faster download directly from MVPMods's server, it's also guaranteed not to come with spyware and junk like torrent software can do. Perhaps it would be worth reseeding - but "updating it first."
SwinginSoriano
There's a website that sells rosters for 12 dollars...
Yankee4Life
There's a website that sells rosters for 12 dollars... Well, that's ok. That's so all the banned guys like Moose and Timay can have the latest rosters. I hope when they try selling your roster they charge them tax. jogar84
torrents = lots of illegal activity like warez/appz/other stuff you shouldnt have. I hate to see MVP being dumped into that sort of thing.
SwinginSoriano
Sadly for some reason people think it's more okay to steal on the internet, hell, more people steal music than not.
PolishJoe
But I don't understand why people wouldn't just come to MVPMods.com and freakin' download the mods. It's so simple. Like jogar84 said, this MLB06 mod just got lumped with some "iffy" stuff.
DJEagles
It amazes me how fast things get passed around on the internet. I came across a torrent file for the mod also, on a very public site. I didn't understand why people just didn't come here to download it.
carter
I hope when they try selling your roster they charge them tax. Don't forget the "convenience fee"!
big shmooz
Actually despite all what is being said here in this thread, I am kinda flattered. Think about it this way... people care enough about the work the modders here do to go out & post it on a torrent site. It's like we are on a par with the professionals who put out movies & music etc...
PolishJoe
I don't disagree Big Shmooz. To be fair, whoever uploaded the torrent did keep the Read Me file intact in the description and starts off saying how great the MVPMods.com community is. But, my only reservation is that the person who uploaded it at least asked permission from the modders. That's kind of what I started this thread for: To see if MVP mods.com knew about this and was okay with it or if they were worried their work was unfairly being placed in a the wrong company. I guess in the end, it's not necessarily taking anything away from MVP mods but, in turn, may be advertising this site to people seeking a free game for the 2006 season courtesy of all of the great modders here. :? SwinginSoriano
It will just make MVPmods look less legitimate. Trues doesn't need legal trouble.
biker_jim_uk
It will just make MVPmods look less legitimate. Trues doesn't need legal trouble. please expand on this? The whole point of torrents wasis to allow sharing of large files easily That is is often used for dubious purposes doesn't alter that. Many people don't know about sites like this or can't register etc and torrents can help. No-one is making anyn money out of this anyway, unlike ebay etc
klon122
Sadly for some reason people think it's more okay to steal on the internet, hell, more people steal music than not. Copyright infringement: the cause and solution to all of our problems! To clarify some things: the most likely way someone is putting malware in the mod is if it was placed in the mod itself, thus a modification of a modification. Some torrent programs may be bundled with adware; however, more than likely if you'd get said software from the makers themselves, you'll usually not catch malware fever. I'm not a lawyer or legal guru but whoever's responsible for the mod can ask the people providing the torrent links to take them down because permission wasn't given to distribute the mod that way. While BitTorrent itself is in no way illegal, the content or non-permission of distributing provided on the BitTorrent networks can be. I'm not going to give advice on what y'all should do because it's not my mod. Just clearing a little of the dust.
I.Am.Canadian
please expand on this? Many people don't know about sites like this or can't register etc and torrents can help. No-one is making anyn money out of this anyway, unlike ebay etc He's right. BitTorrent is a totally legal program, first intentionally made for people in workplaces and home/business networks to easily share large files by swapping pieces to each other and make downloading quicker. Then it got out of hand with movies, music, games, apps, etc.
RedSoxFox7
With how slow MVPmods.com has been recently and at times in the past, the propagation of mods on torrent sites should be welcomed. Not looked down upon, and bandied about with paranoid thoughts of malware being attached.

MarkB
ThePirateBay.org is a Swedish site, maybe Totte know the guys who did it. I highly, highly, highly doubt that has anything to do with it. Sites that post links to torrent files are used by people worldwide. What if it was a site based in the U.S.? Maybe everyone from America knows the guys who did it! ;)
