kgbaseball
Alright, so I consider myself very MVPEdit savvy. Anyways, I've been adding tons of new prospects without any problems by creating them myself. Everything has been fine until yesterday when I created some guy with the Diamondbacks, and when I tried to play a game it crashed. I deleted the created player I made, exported, and everything was fine. My question is: Is there some sort of limit on how many players you can create that I don't know about? No matter who I try to create, it crashes. Any help would be great.
Totte
There's no limit on how many players you can create in MVPedit. I think there is one inside the game if you're using that Create a Player function. Your issue might be related to the player id you assigned your player...? kgbaseball
Its always 0 or 1 I assign them, unless there's a # for him in the TP thread. I even tried exporting a guy from 5.3 into my current roster, and it crashed as well. I'm completely clueless on this one. I've been able to create over 50 other people without a problem. superzark
i've got the exact same problem as kgbaseball...i've created enough players to fill every spot on every roster. in other words, there are no open spots but there are no rosters over the 25 man limit. there are also no other roster errors when i "check errors." any thoughts on why this might be happening? could the roster file have been corrupted somehow? kgbaseball, any luck on figuring this out? thanks for any and all help. p.s. the problem is definitely the rosters because when i use different ones i have no problem. Totte
As you said, the file might be corrupt in some sort of way...
kgbaseball
Well I still have the same problem, but usually only when I create someone with the face 908-909, I think. I created a whole bunch of Mets minor leaguers last night, and everyone went fine. Then I tried creating Anderson Gomes, ChW minor leaguer, and it crashed. I deleted him, and it worked fine after that. I just have to deal with it, since theres NO WAY I'm updating every player from SS's rosters into UR again! superzark
so i thought i found a way to fix the problem by exporting/importing all the teams to another roster (in case the file had merely corrupted). everything was working until i got to the rosters and now i get an mvpedit error message saying "this is not a valid MET file." mvpedit now will not import any team to any rosters. does anyone have any suggestions? thanks. superzark
i've messes around with this some more and it seems that i can only import so many teams into a different roster file before it crashes the game. again, any help in figuring out this mystery would be appreciated. thanks. kgbaseball
I'm guessing it's just a corrupted file. Wait until UR 6.0 comes out, add the players you created, and it should be fine.
superzark
i'm wondering if maybe someone would mind trying out my roster if i sent it to them. perhaps that might be easiest way for someone who knows more about this than i do to figure out what the problem is. let me know if anyone's interested. thanks. habs0
same to me i imported some players and created others. when i am ready to play the games. i exported into the mvp folder (database) now i cant play anymore when the screen is loading before starting the game but crashed to the desktop. i think importing some players may be cause problems. since i have total 30 players (created and imported) i am going to try creating all players who are copied from imported players i tried to see if it works! kgbaseball
Well, I figured out a solution, but unfortunately, it's sort of a problem as well. Apparently I have to delete players from the FA if I want to create players. For instance, I created a Mets prospect today, exported, and it crashed. I then deleted some 34 year old FA I've never heard of, exported, and it worked fine. So now everytime I create someone, I have to delete someone from the FA. habs0
okay but one question i puzzled about: do you have RTA69430 file in your database? because i never noticed it before. i think maybe i mistake to put it somewhere... if you realize what this file is and require to remove or leave it alone as normal file? kgbaseball
It's not in my database, I have no idea what that is or what it could be used for.
Homer
so this is the reason i even came on line today. i was wondering if there was any new insights on this problem, or am i really going to have to go through and delete some free agents? here's what i did: 1. created about 3 dozen players with the create button in MVPedit 2. made sure all lineups and pitching rotations are set as should be 3. all teams have their 25 players. 4. free agent list quota was not exceeded 5. all faces are set to 04 as needed 6. cyberfaces and portraits assigned and installed fine 7. exported the rosters to the game result: game crashes at start up. neat oh! anyhow, i thought there might be something to the create a player thing in MVPedit, as the last time i did this, i got the same result. so i started re-doing my rosters. instead of creating the players, i simply edited certain players on the rosters to the players i wanted them to be (i.e. changing some no-name FA to rickey henderson). everything was working fine until i tried to use the create function again. am i missing a step or something in creating players for my roster? kgbaseball
Turns out there's a 3,250 player limit that can caush crashes. Check in MVPEdit to see if you go over that amount.
Homer
dear lord, is there a fast way to check that number or am i gonna have to add up all players from all teams?
kgbaseball
Just do a blank search and every player from the roster will show up.
Homer
i see. i'm at 3282. so i guess there'll be some mass deleting here
