ThaHustla
I'm looking to upgrade from my 128MB DDR ATI Radeon X300 SE PCI-E video card to a 512MB video card. My System Specs: -Intel Pentium 4 3.4 GHz with Hyper Threading technology -800 MHz Front side bus -1,024MB of memory, will be upgrading to at least 2GB of memory with video card purchase -250 GB Hard drive at 7200 rpm -8x DVD+R/RW DL drive -DVD-ROM drive -Video Card:ATI Radeon x300se with 128MB DDR memory PCI-E x 16 (Express) interface 64-bit memory interface -Power supply:AC input voltage (47-63Hz): 100-127V/8A 200-240V/4A DC output wattage: 300 Watts So far, I've found 2 "affordable" video cards, and I'd like to receive some assistance with which I should purchase, either one of those 2 or another video card anyone knows of that's as good/better than the two I've found. Circuit City: http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/VisionTek-Xtasy-Radeon-X1300-Video-Card-X1300512PCIE-/sem/rpsm/oid/143571/catOid/-13043/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do Tiger Direct: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1906437&CatId=0 I've also seen some mention of an additional power supply with the upgrade of a video card, and I'd like to know if I would need an additional power supply and/or anything else when I purchase the video card. Thank You, any assistance is greatly appreciated.
five
Newegg.com has them from $111. As to the cards, I can't believe how much cheaper cards have gotten in 3 years. It's crazy.
Kccitystar
How much are you willing to spend...? I suggest the NVIDIA 7600GT which is a huge upgrade over the card you have now. Along with that, EVGA offers a trade-up program in which you can get a discount on a new video card as it becomes available by trading in your old one, given as long as you haven't overclocked or anything... I say it's a good deal. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16814130283 -KC
Kccitystar
In response to your PM, 512 cards have not gone mainstream yet, and most businesses have them. I ran a comparison with most video cards and the 7600 leads the majority, which is why I suggested it.
UncleMo
Newegg.com has them from $111. As to the cards, I can't believe how much cheaper cards have gotten in 3 years. It's crazy. I have teh same car, the x300 but it is onboard so it is called the express 200. I dont' see the one for $111.00. Am I too late? If not can someone specifically point that out on the link or is it really over with (the deal).
