UncleMo
Let's say I want to stock up on awesome rookies or very young/cheap talent that is already developed. What I did was sign free agents, and then trade them to teams that have awesome drafted rookies or young cheap talent that is awesome (carl crawford, Dustin Pedroia, etc etc). What I do is sign a FA, then turn off budgets, and trade the players I signed for the players I wanted. I then turn budgets back on and that is what I do. If I get a strong "YES THAT IS CHEATING" I have noticed that by doing this I positively impact a team. Example, I signed Matt Clement, used him for one year, and then traded Matt Clement for some awesome rookie that I can't remember. My rookie is still in the minors while Clement had a big season for TB DRays. Of course this won't happen everytime with everyone I trade away. kgbaseball
If it's cheating in your eyes, then yes. But you are free to do whatever you want in your dynasty. I love what you're doing, as I would want as many impact prospects as possible.
Pirate
The axiom for baseball has always been, "If you aren't cheating, you aren't trying to win."
DJEagles
It's your own dynasty, so do what you want. I have been known to turn off the fair trades, in order to get a player from another team that I want. It's your game, so you can do as you see fit. myk13
i dont think what your doing is necessarily cheating with the players, but turning off the budgets i consider cheating by switching between off and on.
UncleMo
I'm trying to justify that , myke13, by telling myself "Atleast they are in the playoff hunt now". Example, TB almost made wild card and starting signing higher priced free agent pitchers.

Emil
By turning off and on budgets, you are cheating
UncleMo
What if I was to try to appease that exact idea by saying to myself:Well, teams to at times increase and decrease their budgets, even dramatically, at times:Toronto, Tigers the other year, etc etc.
Pirate
It is cheating by turning off the budgets. But really how realistic is the game's roster moves.
seanzarelli
By turning Fair Trades off, I do not think that is cheating as long as you feel like you are being fair in your mind and not trading a guy like Josh Willingham (who in a couple years I hope will be really good) for a guy like David Ortiz. I tend to do this if I can find maybe a good 3 way deal that involves like 5 or 6 guys *(See note). However, by turning budgets off, I don't think that is fair because you can go ahead and sign anyone once the end of the season comes along. *Note: I decided to throw this in about the 3 way deals and such. In my dynasty with the Padres, I ended up doing a 3 way deal with Boston and Tampa Bay, and this is how it panned out. San Diego: Got Jason Varitek from Boston Got Carl Crawford from Tampa Bay Boston: Got Brian Giles from San Diego Got Mike Piazza from San Diego Tampa Bay: Got Mike Cameron from San Diego Got Trot Nixon from Boston When making this deal, Brian Giles, Mike Piazza, Jason Varitek, and Carl Crawford were all on the trading block, as well as Rocco Baldelli being injured for the season. I know this may not seem to fair by reading it, but at the end of the season, I ended up going from 4th to 2nd in the West, Boston came from 3rd to win the Division, and Tampa Bay went from 5th to 3rd. So in all reality, I can think of this deal helping all three teams, even though both Boston and Tampa Bay did make other moves, as did I.
UncleMo
But really how realistic is the game's roster moves. Well, I try to keep it realistic. Like I'd say a 4 or 5 star dude I'd trade straight up for a 5 star draft pick. Like I'm about to package Sabathia and Beckett for a rookie because I want to slash payroll as if my last name was Beane. Together they make maybe 12 million, 8 million. So some no name team will spend that kind of money for a 1-2 punch in their staff and they only have to give me their draft hot draft pick and maybe some chump to fill up my missing roster spot.
