Install --> Patch --> MVP 06: Right?

Recommended Posts

First I install MVP, then I apply the patch from EA.

Should I use the latest patch (I think I saw like patch 5?), assuming that is a culmination of all of the fixes?

Also: I install the '06 mod after the official EA patch, correct? I think I did the reverse when I was helping my cousin get set up and the patch wouldn't work...

Winnie:

One of the problems when installing a patch following a mod is that a number of original files are modified that are not detected by the patch installation program. I can't recall specifically what these are. If you do a search of the forums dating back to 2005 and some of the first patches with MVP 2005 you'll find some threads discussing the issue.

I just did this and stuttering is gone.... I stayed away from patch 5 because of the comments.

Install -> Patch #4 -> mvp06

then added in the latest rosters and datafile.

Hmmm, nope can't get rid of the stuttering.

Install -> Patch #4 -> mvp06

then added in the latest rosters and datafile.

Did exactly this and stuttering is still an issue for me. Throwing third to first or outfield to infield is horrible to watch. Pitching is very smooth though.

Here's exactly my actions:

1. Fresh install, removed all old files first.

2. Official Patch #4

3. MVP06-ILF

4. UR 6.0 plus

5. Big Shmooz (the one with UMachines unis) models.big pack

6. MD'd datafile 3.1

After that the game stuttered like it did out of the box, remember a year ago? Did not try the game between steps.

So I set my Nvidia GeForce 5900 XT 128 mb to AA 2X and AF 4X and no difference at all, might even have been a tad bit worse.

Next step: Downloaded the test6 file that has been recommended for the stuttering issue. No difference. Set my video card settings back to auto. Still no difference in stuttering.

So, have I reached the end of the road here? I really can't see myself playing a dynasty with this stuttering issue unsolved.

Any help with my problem would be greatly appreciated

Regards,

bob

Bob, at the risk of further muddying the waters, in my looking thru posts and problems w/ the mod06/MVP and other issues, I've come across posts that don't recommend EA patch #4. Patch 3 seems most popular, then #5. I don't know how much this info helps, if at all, but I'd recommend looking the the official MVP06 mod threads looking for possible answers. Check the reviews for patch 4 in the downloads section, they describe issues with patch 4.

here's a thought ..

uninstall

re-install

patch #2 -> check game

patch #3 -> check game

etc..

in other words, check the game after each step before installing ANY mods.

Thanks guys for posting.

Did a fresh install again, and played an out between all the patches and seriously, I can't for my life notice any difference (in stuttering) between the patches.

Fresh install, unpatched -> Stuttering

Skipped patch #1

Patch #2 -> same thing

so on and so forth all the way to patch #5. This time I haven't installed any mods at all, just the official patches.

There's one thing I've noticed. Off the bat the ball seems to travel really smooth and throwing outfield to infield, it's not that big of a deal either but the classic throw third to first is just plain horrible no matter which patch is applied. After I installed patch #5, in desperation, I turned down all the graphics settings (in-game) to the lowest (from the highest) but the exact same stutter appears. BTW, I am playing on a TV instead of a monitor if that could make a difference (Don't have a monitor any more so I can't try that anyway).

Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

Bob
