Tomcattwo
Hello fellow baseball fans! Several people on this forum have asked if there is a way to convert EA Sports .asf (music files for the game) back in to .mp3 files (or other audio formats) so that you could load tunes other modders have made for the game onto your iPod or listen to them outside of the game. There is a way to do so. To do so, you will need two programs: 1) Goldwave Digital Audio Editor, a shareware audio program that is very very powerful - you can download a completely functional version at: Goldwave.com 2) EA's Ditty Importer by Suchy63, available in the downloads section of MVPMods at: MVPMods Files: Ditty Importer (Thanks Suchy!) 1) Once Goldwave is installed, set it up to record in .mp3 mode. Use the Help file to find out how to set Goldwave up - it isn't difficult if you read a little. OptionsFile Formats...Default Save Format Tab and select MP3 from the dropdown box for the default file format to save files to. Pick some other output if you want, but .mp3 works best for this evolution. 2) Also, in the Control panel of Goldwave, open the Properties window (the little dot with the checkmark next to it opens the Properties window or alternatively you can select "OptionsControl Properties..." from the main toolbar to open the Properties window), click on the "Volume" tab, and put a check mark in the Select checkbox next to "What U Hear" This will allow Goldwave to record whatever it is you hear from your computer. 3) In Goldwave, on the main toolbar, click on the "New" button on the toolbar. This will pop up a window allowing you to select the audio properties (I used 2 channel, 44100 sampling rate, and an initial file duration of 5:00.000 minutes). Then click OK to open the new file. This should "light up" the control panel buttons. Look for the little round red button on the Control Window...that's the one that will start and stop recording. 4) Install and open Ditty Importer. Browse to the .asf file of the song you want to record in the "Convert File" area (for example, browse to your EASportsMVP2005dataaudiocdmusic folder to find the menuX.asf files from the game). 5) Make sure the Ditty Importer window and the Goldwave Control window are both visible on the screen. In Ditty importer, press the "Preview" button, and then immediately press the Record (little red round button) in the Goldwave Control window. Wait until the song is finished playing, then stop the recording by pressing the button in the Goldwave Control window again. You should see the levels of the input sound in the Control window and see the digital audio input as Goldwave records the music being played by Ditty Importer. Goldwave will automatically "chop off" the excess file after you stop recording, so the song will not have a bunch of dead space at the end. 6) Once you've stopped the recording, in Goldwave toolbar, select FileSave As... This will open a save window. Make sure the save format from the dropdown box is .mp3, select an appropriate filename and location in the window, and save your file. Voila! .asf to .mp3! Rinse and repeat to convert others, and enjoy MVP05 baseball tunes anywhere you want! Regards, TC2
biker_jim_uk
Why would you record like that instead of extracting and converting the asf files with sx?
