Still crashing

I recently posted here on a crashing problem I was having. I am still crashing but have another question about a possible cause. There is what looks like a minimized window shows up on my taskbar for a split second and then disappears. This happens every few minutes. I had a game that used to minimize to the desktop and this unknown thing ( I will call it a program) was on my taskbar and would then leave. I could click on the minimized game button and continue the game. When my MVP crashes the minimized window has been there but the debug message box is there to and when I click on close the debug box the game also closes. Yesterday MVP minimized to the taskbar like it had been doing but the debug box was not there. I clicked on the minimized game window and was able to resume my game of MVP. I then tried another game and got the same deal and was able to resume until my PC rebooted on its own. I tried the game again only to have it miimize a nd have the debug box which ended the game. I have tried closing anti virus software and all background tasks that I can as well as the windows fire wall. Does anyone know what this program running in the background could be? I am using all the original files and the first 2 patches for the game.

Windows XP home

Athlon 2600

GeForce 5700 ultra 128

Installed the 3rd patch and the game minimized to the desktop in the first inning without the debug box. Started the game back and it immediatly minimized with the debug box. End of game. I have made it thru one whole game in the last two weeks. Most of the time it crashes around the 3rd inning.

Make sure your ORINGINAL CD is in the cd rom.

Is possible U have 2 diff title EA Games disc on 2 drives and when the game check on copy protection it had conflict.

So when playing, put 1 cd on your drive and nothing else.

I have 2 drives and the game crashes with the original cd in either drive. This should not be a problem. After start up of the game I have taken out the disk and played the game before. I have never seen the drive access the disk after the game has started. The PC does the same thing with sim coaster but plays Tiger Woods 06 with no problem.

No No No ONLY 1 CD on your drive. If you put two EA games @ the same time it will cause conflict. Example: Tigrwood on cd rom , MVP on DVD rom, when EA check they can't figure out which copy protection u are using it will just crash your game to desktop. So only put 1 cd game in 1 drive and leave the other one empty.

Second we can't figure out what program is running in the background in your PC. U have to have some anti-virus/spyware program to check and than U can decide what program to close.

Thirdly what roster are u using? Any faces or stadiums mod installed with the Game? If the roster happen to use that faces but your model.big file does not have it it will crash your game too.

I only put 1 CD in my drive at a time. I am talking about I have tried the disc in each drive at seperate times and the crash happens on either drive I try.

I have closed all programs in my processes menu that are assigned to my user name except for explore.exe and taskmgr.exe. What program do you suggest using to see what programs are running in the background?

I only have the original game installed and the first 3 patches. I do not have any custom items installed.

abraves,

I had the same problem. Mine turned out to be my HP printer software, so I control-alt-delete and under System tab, turn off all HP related things under my name. That did the trick.

Funny thing is it never used to do this when I first got the printer and installed the software, but when I installed updates, it started doing it. Might be a auto updater or some network thingy. Still not sure, but at least I know the temporary fix.

Good luck.
