UncleMo
a .ord file and an .orl file? What information is inside of these files? What does each one do differently than the other? Many thanks. PS. My previous experience with o edit was quite uneventful.
xiberger
From what I know, *.ord files define the head shape (model), and *.orl files contain information regarding the location of a given texture (face image) on that model. I could be wrong though...
UncleMo
1. Would you say the .ord file is data as in (letters and/or numbers) that make up a model? Or would you say that a .ord file literally is a model like a 3d image that you edit via oedit. 2. So if the information in the .orl file is changed on say, a cyberface for example, the texture (face image, aka .bmp file) can be moved around on the particular model. Like if I was crazy and wanted to move the actual face texture (.bmp face file) to show up lopsided looking on the actual model I'd screw around with the data inside of the .orl file, correct? Pirate
No you would use Oedit to edit both. O edit takes both of these files and marries them. That way in Oedit you can edit the 3D mesh to look like a dog if you wantted and then move the graphics using the uvmapeditor to give it a graphic of a dog. I saw this done in NBA Live once. They even created the Simpson family for five on five play using Oedit. It's an amazing tool.
UncleMo
That is a very interesting thing to mention, re: The Simpsons. I appreciate all of the help. One last question. How do I go from this new found highly important information to say, taking one set of .ord/.orl files and replacing them with a newer set (not for regular cyberfaces, but for generic ones)? For example, what if I wanted to take the info provided to me by you both, and replace a generic .ord and .orl file so that I can take an EA cyberface of say, Ichiro for example, and put Ichiro's .ord and .orl file in place of the generic asian .ord and .orl files. Do you think the datafile is preventing me from achieving such an idea? I can only change fsh files for generic cyberfaces, not .ord and .orl files. I hope this all made sense. And, if the problem can not be pinpointed at all, then I'll be fine with that as well.
biker_jim_uk
There is somthing in the code somewhere that prevents you doing that or it would have worked when you tried it
UncleMo
Would you think that coding is located in the .exe or in the .orl file, or is the answer "you're guess is as good as mine"? Thanks for weighing in.
biker_jim_uk
the latter, I tried to swap c001 into g001 after changing all the internal references to g001 and got a crash, so no real idea!
