jbilich
I'm not sure if this is possible, but I'm new to the site and thought I'd throw the idea out there to see if it is... If anyone has ever been to Jacbos Field to see the Indians play you know about John Adams, who sits in the bleachers at EVERY game and beats the drum at critical moments in the game. I'm just curious if it would be possible for anyone to make an audio mod for this. I have no clue if it's possible to include this much into such a mod, but optimally the drum audio would play between pitches (only at Jacobs Field of course) in these types of situations: 1) the home team has a runner(s) in scoring position in any inning 2) the home team has runner(s) on base in the later innings (7,8,9) 3) during the top of the 9th if the home team has the lead Again...this could be impossible. I don't know because I don't know much about modding, but it'd be great if someone could do this mod...or at least let me know if it's possible. If it is possible and someone is willing to work on it just let me know and I'll try to dig up an audio file of the drum beat. Maybe it could just be added to an increased crowd noise mod? Thanks also to everyone who does mods for this site...this site has become an addiction, it's so cool! Thanks!!
indianajones
well if they can do that damn tomahawk chant at braves games i can't see why a drum beating wouldn't be possible
jbilich
I figured it would be possible... Any idea if it's a complicated mod? I'm a pretty quick learner, and could probably do it my self if there was a guide for modding MVP files and audio. Anyone know if there is such a guide or some sort of instruction for modding? Thanks!
biker_jim_uk
there are lots of guides, try a search
jbilich
Maybe I'm just looking for the wrong thing...but I did a few searches for "guides" and "tutorials" but I didn't find much related to audio stuff. Any suggestions or anyone interested in making this mod?
steroid
I think the guy who does that is named John, i believe. He is the drummer that sits up in left field bleacher section. He has been doing that for at least 25 to 30 years now, I think. He has been to alot of Tribe games.....I will try to search for something like that too, so we can try and get it to the mods crew. Would be a great addition.
Filthy57
I would say talk to UncleMo. He made a bunch of crowd chant mods, so I think he would probably know what files to edit, how to do it, etc.
jbilich
Steroid that's correct...his name is John Adams. He's had season tickets for as long as I can remember. Last I checked he hadn't missed a game at Jacobs Field. I've searched google for an audio clip of the drum, but I can't seem find anything. I'll keep looking. I agree it would be a great addition to an audio mod...much like the tomahawk chop UncleMo added for braves games. If anyone finds an audio clip of this PLEASE let us know! steroid
Uncle Mo will probably find it before us, hes the man for audio, along with Hory. If its a noise for the game, they can find it anywhere.......lol Back in 1973, Adams called the Indians and asked if he could bring the drum into the stadium. As long as no one complained, the Indians' brass had no objections. He been buying three tickets per game ever since (One for him, for his wife Kathleen, and one for his drum, no joke!) John Adams and his drum have missed only 15 games in 28 years. "Sometimes I have to do a thing like go to work," said Adams. He works at the telephone company and also volunteers at Cleveland State instructing students on teaching the handicapped. "I only miss day games in the middle of the week," he explained This is our boy, now lets see if we can find this audio............ 8)
jbilich
steroid... Does someone need to PM UncleMo with this request or will he run across this thread? I'm new to board, so I don't know how everything usually works.
jbilich
Well I've been looking around and I can't find any audio clips with the drum. Anyone else have any luck?
D-Unit
did you search on google video? maybe if you record the drum beat while at a game or on TV you could use that.
UncleMo
Yeah I did. I just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance. Now that is luck. Anyway, back to the sane conversation, don't bump your threads, some people hate that (I don't). I would need that audio clip and would need to know when psycho John hits the drums. Is it all of the time? Is it only when a homer is jacked? Is it when he is drunk? Is it whenever he hears the hotdog guy screaming "HOT DOGS GIT YER HOT DOGS!" Or is he just randomly beating the drum whenever he gets riled up. The last thing I need is to know what it sounds like. Is it just the Braves tomohawk drum beat? Ok. Thanks for not PMing me. I'm not taking requests really, But get the answers to those questions and I'll see about assisting you. You can be the next goofball audio modder. I'm done audio modding. jbilich
Basically the drum is played at Jacobs Field in the following situations: Indians have runners in scoring position Indians batting after the 7th inning Indians leading in the top of the 8th or 9th trying to close out the game I've tried to find some audio to record this, but so far I'm unable to record the audio at MLB.com because of their copyright protections. Any idea how else to get this audio clip?

mlbshowdown2002
There might be a small amount of the drum beat before a highlight. You know, if you go to the Indian's website and click "top plays" .If you have a high-end sound card, you may be able to record it directly. ChiefWahoo
This mod would be sweet! There's got to be somebody on this board who could take a small audio recorder to an Indians home game and get the audio clip you guys need. I would if I still lived in Cleveland, but unfortunately now I live far, far away. Or easier yet, I would think if you recorded one of their TV broadcasts you would be able to find a long enough sound clip when the announcers weren't talking to use for this purpose. jbilich
Well I've tried to put this sound mod together myself using UncleMo's tutorial. I ended up just making my own drum sound and clapping and mixed it in with the original crowd music. My problem though is getting the .asf file to be the right size. After using Ditty Importer I have a file that's around 5 MB. It needs to just over 3 MB. UncleMo suggested using the program "Splitter" to get it to the right size and then simply renaming the file. I tried this, but even after renaming the file it still says its file type is a 001 file, not a .asf as it should be. Anyone else know how I can get my .wav file back to being a .asf file that's the right size so I can import it back into the original file using .ASF Importer/Exporter? Thanks ! cruecu
you can convert wav's to asf and vice versa in ITUNES...
jbilich
I know how to convert the wav to an asf file. My problem is then RESIZING the asf file to the correct size so it can be imported. Using Splitter creates an .001 file so the file is the correct size, but no longer an ASF file. My question is how can I resize my ASF file but still maintain it's ASF file type. Using Splitter creates an .001 file so the file is the correct size, but no longer an ASF file. My question is how can I resize my ASF file but still maintain it's ASF file type. delete the extension .001. your file is probably named like so: UncleMo.asf.001 When you delete the .001 by renaming the file, there is your .asf file. You must be doing pretty good. Please remember to read the tutorial. It says:Make sure you read all of Splitter’s instructions. You will see the file you created cut into 2-3 parts parts. One part is a header, and maybe the others will be various sizes. You are looking for the file that is the size you told Splitter to create. Delete the other files it created. That is trash. Now rename your split file back to a .asf file, which means I think you need to delete the extension that it added to your file and that is it, I think." I'm betting you have not checked the file size. I think your file that ends with .001 is your header. Check to make sure that file is not the one you are supposed to trash.-Mo
jbilich
I did check the file size and I deleted the right files. The file I'm left with is the correct size, but simply deleting the .001 didn't change its file type. I went to properties and the file type was still .001. Could it be that my original file is too large or something like that, so it has to be packed like an RAR file? Other than that the tutorial went pretty well. It was nice and easy to follow, but this one little issue at the end has prevented me from testing it out. Anyone have any advice? Thanks again for the tutorial UncleM
UncleMo
"Could it be that my original file is too large or something like that, so it has to be packed like an RAR file?" No. Right click on the file, click "rename", then you may delete where it says .001. Now hit enter. Now your file is a .asf file and no longer has the .001 extension. Some cases you will have 2-3 files created, and if the one file you split is huge, you may have 2 files that equal the same length you told them to equal. Try one file, if that wasn't it, try the other one. I strongly believe, but am not sure, that the .001 is the header file and not the one to use, not sure though. From here, you're on your own as if I could help you, I'd have to be at your PC.
jbilich
Well UncleMo I tried everything you suggested and renaming the file just wouldn't change the file type from .001. I messed around for a while though and finally figured out how to do it For some reason it just wouldn't let me right click and rename the file. So I went into WinRAR and right click on the file in there and tried renaming it. Much to my surprise it worked perfectly! It could just be a funky issue I was having, but you might consider adding this troubleshooting tip to the end of your guide. Thanks for all the help and the great tutorial! One final question though...I wanted to make this audio mod specific to Jacobs Field. I believe you did a mod a while back that included the Brave's Tamahawk Chop only at Turner Field. I'm just wondering how I can make this audio mod specific to one stadium. Thanks Mo
