niceonedave
First of all I'd like to say that I know these slider settings are very generous, but for me they seem to give the most realistic results (but maybe not stats). I am currently playing a Dynasty with the Yankees and I am sitting on 18-14, so not exactly amazing, but its ok. The problem I am having is hitting home runs. Hits are no problem with all my stars hitting over .300 and my backup players round about the .250 mark. I am also capable of scoring runs, with Matsui currently on 27 RBIs. The slider settings are as follows (playing on All-Star mode): User Pith Meter Difficulty: +20 Pitch Speed: 0 CPU Pitcher Ball Rate: +10 USER Pitcher Fatugue: -25 CPU Pitcher Fatigue: +20 USER Pitch Control: +20 CPU Pitch Control: -25 Bullpen Fatigue Rate: +15 Bullpen Fatigue Grace: +15 USER Batting Contact: +48 CPU Batting Contact +15 USER Batting Power: +50 CPU Batting Power: +10 USER Bunting Ability: +30 CPU Bunting Ability: +30 USER Foul Ball Frequency: 0 CPU Foul Ball Frequency: 0 CPU Swing Frequency: +10 USER OF Speed (Manual): +5 USER OF Speed (MVP): +10 CPU OF Speed: -10 USER IF Speed (Manual): +5 USER IF Speed (MVP): +10 CPU IF Speed: -5 USER Throw Speed: +10 CPU Throw Speed: 0 USER Throw Accuracy: -5 CPU Throw Accuracy: -5 etc etc Anyway, as you can see from these settings I have +48 for contact and +50 for power. And yet I still can't barely hit a homer. Matsui: 6 Sheffield: 5 Giambi: 4 Williams: 3 Jeter, Cano: 2 Rodriguez, Phillips: 1 and Johnny Damon: 0 (well actually 1, but then the game crashed). As I say, these slider settings work for me since they give accurate results, although my hits are a bit high. Sheffield: .388 Jeter: .349 Rodriguez: .333 Matsui: .329 Can anyone suggest what I need to change to make my home run numbers go up, without really affecting much else. (as a note, the Red Sox have 42 homers and I have 22). I generally hit the ball all over the park, just nothing ever reaches the wall. Also I am not too good and taking pitches, I often swing at almost anything, and with slow pitches I am normally very early (something I am working on). I appreciate any help, tips comments etc. p.s. I just noticed that the number of homers I have as written above for each player is 24, but the standings gives the number as 22 8O
D-Unit
with power hitters, try tilting up on the left analog stick. if there is only one, then tilt that one up. or just play on pro. and as for the high batting averages, you have only played 32 games, so expect it to drop. niceonedave
While hitting I generally hold the stick left or right, going up and right/left for the pitches high in the zone, and generally with my big hitters, but I normally fly out, or catch the wrong part of the bat and just pop it straight up. D-Unit
well just work on the timing. if necessary, write down the velocities of each pitcher's velocities during the game. dont swing every time, wear the pitcher down and he will throw more mistakes as the game goes on. ive been playing for a while so i know what pitches to jump on and at whatever time. niceonedave
Would you say you go up, up-left or up-right on every pitch for your big hitters or do you read the pitches and only go up on the high pitches?
D-Unit
with one or two strikes with the big hitters, tilt whatever way you want. but with two strikes tilt up or dont tilt, so you have a better chance of hitting the ball in case they throw something hard to hit when you tilt at an angle. and try to notice the color of the pitch as soon as possible. niceonedave
I think I have solved my own problem. I upped the pitch speed slider to +10 and in the first game I hit 2 homers, 1 coming from Felix Escalona. So for anyone else having a similar problem, play about with the Pitch Speed setting till you find what works for you. I was always swinging early on slow pitches, but now its a bit more varied.
