idiotboy
This is a strange one and I doubt anyone has an answer, but i'm going to ask it anyways. I do a fresh install of the game and fire it up, everything works fine. I go in and create my profile and set my video and controller settings. I then proceed to install all 5 Official patches in preparation for the 06 mod. After installing all 5 patches (not the mod yet), I again restart the game and all of a sudden the game acts as if I've got a button pushed in. The 'Click to Start' button is blinking and the game automatically starts one of the demos without me clicking the button. I hit the Esc key, it returns to the menu with the 'Click to Start' button and the whole thing starts over again. The game acts as if I clicked something and loads another demo. The only way I could get out of the game was to CTRL+ALT+DEL and end task on MVP05. I have no idea what's going on, but it has to do with one of the patches. Unfortunately, I didn't start the game after each patch so I don't know which one is causing the problem. I'm going to go back and uninstall the game and go through each patch one at a time to find out where it craps out on me, but in the mean time, I was wondering if anyone has ever had this problem and if they know how to fix it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
idiotboy
It seems my problem starts after installing patch #2. This really stinks because without being able to install all 5 patches, I can't use the 06 mod. I have no idea what's wrong. The game runs fine until I install the second patch. Even tried loading the game with no controllers installed and without the mouse and keyboard. I'll buy someone a beer if they have any ideas I can try.
Jim825
Each patch builds upon the previous one, so if you just install patch #5, you get all 5 of them (i.e. you don't have to install one after the other). Unfortunately, I have no clue what your problem is....
pfalvey
Jim825 is correct. Also, I've only installed patch 3 and the mod works fine. In fact, #3 seems to be the most popular EA patch on this site. Pat
idiotboy
Yes, but patch #3 contains all the fixes from patch #2 so I still install whatever is causing my problem. I'm really bum'd about this because I was looking forward to seeing the 06 mod and getting back to some good old fashion baseball fun. I think I'm going to put this one aside for the night because i'm getting a migrane trying to figure it out.
idiotboy
I figured out what was wrong and as usual, it was something stupid (hey, I didn't get my username for nothing ). I had turned off Vsync in my ATI control panel for another game I play and I forgot to turn it back on. Patch #2 must do something in regards to refresh rates compared to the unpatched version and once the game was allowed to go over 60 fps, it through everything into highspeed mode with Vsync turned off. I guess I get to buy myself a beer. Thanks for the replies
