Stuttering...

Why do I experience slight stuttering when throwing the ball in the infield and during fly balls? I have downloaded the EA Sports patch #3 but it didn't seem to help. Currently I'm running an AMD Athlon 2.2 GHz processor with 512 MB of RAM. An 8X CD Drive and a GeForce 6200. Should I be having any stuttering with this? Would a better graphics card fix this problem?

Thanks.

Try 60hz with vsync enabled. Otherwise, anything over 60 fps will result in ball stutter. Turning AA and AF on MAY help as well, since it could drop your max frame rate to 60 or below.

VSYNCE - Vertical Synchronization - vsync locks your refresh rate so set it to 60 and vynce on

AA - Anti-Alliasing- put it on 4x it will SWOOTH the jaggedness

AF - Antistrophic filerting - this one put on 4x

you can access this thru ur graphs card contol pannel keep flickering around till you find sommething that fits you

okay if you still have probs mess around wit it

Gagnon i am having the same problem and i have almost the same system as you do excpet your prcessor is a little better. Let me know if the AA and AF had anything to do with it and let me know where to change this things. I dont know where the control panel for the card is.

The control panel for you video card is located at the following place. At your desktop right click on an empty area (where no icons are located) & then click on the last option called "properties". Then click on the tab on the top of the window that opens called "settings". Then click on the button called "advanced". To set your screen refresh rate to 60 hz, click on the tab called "monitor". There you will eee a refresh rate. If it is more than 60 you can change it over there by clicking on the little down arrow. & clicking on the choice called 60 Hertz. Then click the "save" button. That it. You're done. However if you want to also check the AA & Af settings you have, click "apply" instead of "save". This way you will not have to go back & do the process named above all over in order to get back to where you are. (when you click "save" it closes the window & when you click "apply" it keeps the window still open)

Also... make sure you have the latest drivers that your video card company makes. You will have to go to their website & download & install it. If you want to skip this step, it may be alright, but then I can't tell you for sure what your video card control panel looks like to direct you how to adjust the AA & Af settings.

If you want to adjust the settings of your AA & AF you will have to then click on the tab of your video card. (usually a Nvidia Geforce or ATI card)

The following instructions are for Nvidia cards only....

After you have clicked on the name of your video card tab, you will see a list of settings options off to the left hand side. The third one named under your name of the video card you are using is called "performance & quality settings". Click on this option. Then in the main body of the window you will see a section called on the left hand side "settings". (note: I do not mean on the total left hand side, but rather the left hand side of the main window section) Inside here is where you will find the options to change the AA & AF settings. They are in fact the top two choices located inside the little window you see there.

Click on each one to highlight it. You will notice located below that, that there are then settings that can be adjusted via a sliding bar. Here is where you adjust the settings to whatever you want.

Also, if you scroll down a bit in this little mini window, you will find the 5th thing there is your V-sync. If you click on that, you can highlight it & make sure it is turned on always by sliding the bar underneath to that particular option called "on".

Then after you are all done, click on the save button. This will close the window & save all that you did.

One final note, you also need to make sure that your v-sync setting is also turned to "on" in the MVP 05 game options. For this you have to start up the game & choose "my mvp". In there you need to choose "my mvp options". The you need to choose "video options". Then scroll all the way down to the last thing there. That is where your v-synch for the game is is located. Make sure your v-sync setting is turned to "on" & then click accept on the bottom of the screen. That's it.

If you have an Nvidia card & you follow my instructions exactly, this should clear up any problems you may be having.

Thanks for the help, I'm going to try this when I get home.

Also, is there anyone running similar setting to mine that is not suffering from stuttering? Do you also have the ILF update? I just want to make sure I don't need any upgrades to my computer to run this game optimally. When I do auto-detect in the MY MVP menu it puts everything on high. My system is...

AMD Athlon Processor (2.2 GHz)

512 MB of RAM

8X CD ROM Drive

GeForce 6200

Big Schmooz,

I have an Nvidia Geforce3 Ti 200, but when I goto the video control panel by clicking on desktop, properties, settings, advanced, there is no Nvidia tab. There is an adapter tab, but all it gives me is a properties tab which only gives me a general tab (troubleshhoting option), Driver tab (install drivers, etc..) and a resources tab. There are no "performance and quality settings" tab or anything similar. The only thing similar is an Nview desktop manager thru the windows control panel, but there is nothing in it that relates to this. Any suggestions as to where I might find my card settings?

Thanks,

Pat

I am not positive why you do not see the things I described. Perhaps it's because you're using older drivers. Or perhaos your video card drivers operate a bit differently. Or maybe your card is an older one & does not even have the ability to use the AA & AF settings. I am not sure, but just try either downloading newer drivers & see if this helps & if not, just try fiddling around there & see if you can find the setting. It may also help to go to the website of your video card maker & browse their FAQ section & see if you can come up with an answer. Sorry I could not help more. But without more info, I really don't know how to proceed. (plus I do not know how the drivers react with your particular video card).

I DO know that is a very old card, so it is likely that the drivers you use do not even show this option becasue your card probably does not have AA & AF capability.

I changed my AA and AF and it made things 1000X more choppy. I switched the AA to 4X and the AF to 16X. I'll try the AF at 4X as well but I don't understand how increasing anything graphically will make it run smoother. I'm getting extremely frustrated with this and more aggrivated with 2K Sports every step of the way. Now I remember why I switched exclusively to console gaming.

It seems like I should be able to run this game without any stuttering, however, with every PC game I've ever played not one has been installed and played without some problems. I just re-installed MVP and downloaded EA's patch #3, which makes matters worse so Lord knows what will happen once I put all the mods back on there.

Thanks again for your help as you seem to be very patient. Well, back to tinkering.

Thanks, I updated the drivers and now I can access those settings. I was wondering, though, about your latest version of Umachines uniforms. I am playing a dynasty w/ SS roster v1.4 (from March 17). If I install your latest version of umachine uni's, will I still be able to continue my present dynasty or will it cause a crash? If it is likely to cause a crash, I'll probably just wait until the final MVP06 mod is released.

Thanks,

Pat

EDIT: I did decide and install the uni's and I was able to play one game in my dynasty without a problem. I did have a little bit of stutter, but not nearly as before I installed Kraw's test patch. I will now try and change some of the card settings.
