Baffled by this 360 controller issue, help please?

No clue what's going on here. I use the 360 controller on my PC just fine, but my friend is having issues and we'd really like to get this up and running for flawless MVP games.

I run the XBCD drivers, so obviously I'm trying to walk him through how to do the same. I go through the directions, install them the exact same way I did on my PC, but the XBCD drivers never show up as an option on his PC, it only will recognize the 360 for Windows default setting. I've had him uninstall everything and retry, attempt to install them manually through the device manager/updating drivers, pretty much everything I can think of and we're just not getting anywhere.

The ONLY thing I can think of is, is there an internal difference between the wired 360 controller, and the one that is sold in stores which comes with the 360 driver disk? Because he has the wired version that doesn't come with the driver disk, you know like one a console player would just buy to use for the 360. I just can't believe there would be that much of an internal difference to where the XBCD drivers work on one, but not the other.

Anyway, if anyone could give me some assistance here, I would REALLY appreciate it. I've tried pretty much everything I can think of, and I'm somewhat baffled. Thanks for any assistance!

Ok cool, I just wanted to make sure of that. Man I've just got no idea what's going on then because I had him install it the exact same way I did mine. I did find the xbcd.inf file on my PC though, so I think I'm just gonna try to have him manually install that file and see if it takes care of the problem. I'm sure I can solve the problem, it's just odd to me that I'm coming up with issues.
