tigrfire
Mod Concept: The idea behind this mod is to re-create the classic Super Nintendo game, "Super Baseball 2020." The game was an arcade-style baseball game with incredibly solid and original gameplay that has yet to ever re-emerge in baseball games today. Call it Japan's early false pretenses of baseball or perhaps their foreign spin on the classical sport, "Super Baseball 2020" is an amazing game that offers a tremendous amount of fun to any player. While not the deepest game (in its originality), lacking any sort of real season mode, only possessing 12 teams (maybe 13? I can't remember if there's a hidden opponent team), the game simply offers a great playing experience that someone can just pick up and play for a half hour and have a good time playing. Original Game Information: GameFAQs Info Game Screenshots: Super Baseball 2020 Screenshots Distinguishing Characteristics: If you've checked out the screenshots, you will probably have a lot of questions which is why this section is here, to answer those questions. The first thing that should be mentioned is that the game is not only male. The game's players consist of male, female, and robots (yes, robots). The next thing to notice is that the playing field has been re-designed. The foul zone has been truncated to not extend past first or third base on the right and left sides of the field. If you refer to the image, the brown area is the foul zone; the green area is the fair zone, the yellow strip is the home run super-jump zone; the titled red rectangles with stop written on them are stop zones; the huge blue scoreboard behind the yellow strip is the home run zone. I will explain each of these individually now: Foul Zone: If you know the basic rules of baseball, you understand the foul zone. The foul zone in SB2020 is no different in rules. Fair Zone: The playable area of the field that includes not only the green area, but all the glass-covered stands that are surrounding it (that aren't part of the Foul Zone or Home Run Zone). Home Run (Super) Jump Zone: A special strip in center field that allows a fielder that enters it to jump beyond even SB2020's normally exagerrated jumping capabilities. This zone's purpose is to allow a fielder to do the impossible and jump literally hundreds of feet in the air to steal away those precious home run hits. Stop Zone: Interesting aspects of SB2020 gameplay. These zones stop the ball's movement instantly and sticks it in place, making the fielder's job much easier. Home Run Zone: The most prized zone to hit to on the field. This is the ONLY place in SB2020 where you can nail a home run. Money System: While, obviously, another distinguishable characteristic of SB2020, the money system offers complications that make it worthy of its own category. Each action in SB2020 is either awarded or penalized a set amount of money and though I haven't researched all of these, here's a short, incomplete list: Strike - Offense: Offensive team penalized $10. Strike - Defense: Defensive team awarded $100. Catch Out: Defensive team awarded $800. Catch Out - Jumping Catch: Defensive team awarded $1000. Catch Out - Diving/Sliding Catch: Defensive team awarded $1500. Base Hit - Single: Offensive team awarded $300. Base Hit - Double: Offensive team awarded "Base Hit - Single" award plus $500. This money obviously has some greater purpose than simply accumulating it. It can be used to upgrade your player's different playing abilities. Below is a complete list (minus performance percentage increases): Upgrade:ABC Hitting Arm:$2000$5000$10000 Fielding Arm:$1000$3000$7000 Pitching Arm:$10000$15000$20000 Robot:$5000$10000$30000 I'm getting tired and it's late, so if anyone out there finds this interesting, please, please, respond to this post. Also, I'm not just someone who's good at explaining things ( ), I also have extensive experience with texturing and good experience with 3D modelling. Yankee4Life
I played this game a lot. In fact I have it for the Sega Genesis, Super Nintendo and the old Neo Geo system. My first thought is how can this be done? Yeah, it's a nice idea, but how? Remember, that game had robots and exploding things in the outfield. How can this be done in Mvp 05? tigrfire
Well, if it's possible to edit character models, I don't see why you couldn't just stick in a new character model of a robot. I mean sure, it's a lot of work, but keep in mind its upgrading from 16-bit, it's not like any improvement won't make a huge difference anyways. If robots can't be done, then I guess girls couldn't be done either, but in that case, the game could still maintain a lot of its originality by having the other things that were in SB2020. I don't really know how a lot of things can be done since I'm not really a modder on MVP, yet, but I'm willing to help out if a practiced modder can get on here and provide some insight. SwinginSoriano
I don't think this can be done with MVP.
