RedSoxFox7
I don't care. I'm more concerned with the people who have been here. And we won't be on a torrent site because it has a lot of illegal stuff on those sites. 1. There are also a lot of legal things on torrent sites. 2. The torrent files don't have to be on any site other than this one. There are a number of Linux distributions and other *legally* free software sites that use torrents to distribute their work to save on bandwidth costs. Don't let your own ignorance of a certain technology deprive a great site like this one from being able to continue to provide its members with quality downloads. RedSoxFox7
If you limit the amount of stuff "newbies" can download you WILL kill this site. New users are what keep ANY business going. You DO NOT have to host the torrent on a torrent site. You can host the @30k torrent on your site an dramatically reduce your bandwidth usage. A very large and growing element of the open source community uses bittorent to distribute thier files. More and more game companies are hosting patches as torrents. Many of the newer clients have trackerless downloading also, so that wouldn't even be an issue. Your fear of using torrents is pathetic. The excuse you gave for it is ignorant. Before you summarily dismiss options that could keep your site up, why don't you do a little research. THANK YOU
RedSoxFox7
Trues, if mirrors end up being needed, shoot me a PM, I've got some space I could donate for large files like the 06 mod.
Filthy57
I think that the download limit based on post count, donations, mods, etc., wouldn't be a bad idea, and I don't think spamming would be a problem if the mods had the decision on whether or not you were allowed, such as a while back, when the Left Field and MLB forums were locked down and one needed to be a trusted member, spamming does you no good because the mods have the final say. Don't let your own ignorance of a certain technology deprive a great site like this one from being able to continue to provide its members with quality downloads. You are right, I was not fully aware of what the torrents can do. I guess what I was trying to convey to everyone is that I wouldn't want all the good work that the modders put up in here on a torrent site with pirated copies of Paint Shop Pro. But now that I have learned otherwise just by reading other people's posts in here. DJEagles
I totally agree with you Big O that something has to be done to keep this great site enjoyable for the whole community. I also feel your suggestions, but where would you draw the lines in terms of who is an established member and who is not? Unfortunately not everybody is gifted like the modders on this site in order to contribute a mod for the community. I can only speak for myself but i'm so grateful that i'm able to revamp my game with these awesome mods without having the skills to mod on my own, that it would be a major setback if contributing a mod would become a criteria for participating on this community. As for the post count I can smell spamming. I mean let's not be naive 'cause people will spamm the threads in order to drive their post counts up. IMO that would be to much drama for the admins and pretty annoying for those people who come to this place on a regular daily basis to check out what's going on or to simply take a sip from the fountain of knowledge -which is actually my approach to this site. Forcing people to get a certain amount of posts can backfire on this whole thing... Just my 2cents... Spamming sucks...there are alot of new guys on this site now, and a few who have a crazy high post count already. There is one guy inparticular, that has been signed up for less then a month, and has upwards of 350-400 posts already....That's frigging insane. Spammers are everywhere however, and with the large amount of traffic this site gets, we are bound to get a few...

DJEagles
Yes, but I wasn't calling you out as a spammer. Just making a point that, with alot of new guys, comes alot more traffic with it. I think your post count is crazy...but from what I have seen from you, for the most part, are pretty intelligent posts. But there has been a high amount of traffic lately...and alot of spammers....one guy named Dom was a bad one. Don;t know what happened to him though.
