CubbieBlue66
Or do I? I just got the Logitech Cordless Rumblepad 2 recently, and decided to dust off this old copy of MVP 2005 I had lying around. I had given up on it before cause I couldn't use the keyboard well enough to do much of anything, but this new joypad is almost a perfect dual shock replica. So anyway, I'm laying on my bed across the room playing the game, and when I tried to change pitchers, I noticed I couldn't do it with the gamepad. I had to get up and go back across the room to use the mouse to navigate the menus. Is there some sort of option I just can't figure out, or some mod that I could install? And for a quick side issue, I'm getting some stuttering problems in the field. It's mostly when I throw from 3rd to first, but I can pick up on it pretty much whenever the ball is moving quickly through the air. The rest of the field seems relatively fine, but the ball acts possessed. All I've got installed are the game itself, the third official patch, the mlb 06 beta, and the newest UR. Anything I can do to fix it?
snepp
I believe this is what you want for your mouse issue. http://www.electracode.com/4/joy2key/JoyTo...h%20Version.htm As for the stutter, try Kraw's test fix. http://www.mvpmods.com/index.php?name=Foru...er=asc&start=
CubbieBlue66
Ok, while it's not flawless by any means now, the test fix for the stuttering seems to be helping by a good deal. Would dropping my video settings help that at all? As for the mouse issue, that's rather complicated, so it'll be awhile before I've got it figured out well enough to let you know if that does the trick, though it certainly does look promising. Thanks!
snepp
I recall trying out the JoytoKey thing at one time. It seemed to work ok, but it could get a little touchy moving the cursor around with the analog stick. About your stutter, make sure that you have Vsync enabled in the video options (in the game). Also, what type of hardware are you running the game on?
CubbieBlue66
I'm running the game with a dual core pentium 3ghz, 2 gigs of ram, and a ati all-in-wonder x600. While the videocard is a bit lacking, the rig should be able to handle the game without a problem.
snepp
If I had to take a stab in the dark, I'd say that your Dual-core is the source of the problem. I don't know how many users on this board have a dual-core processor, but MVP wouldn't be the first game that had issues with them. Did you verify that you have vsync enabled in the game, and that your video card's vsync setting isn't overriding it? Also, check that the game is running at 60Hz when you are playing a game. (not in the menus, but after starting an actual game)
spitoon
Might be a bit of a long shot, but try cranking your video card settings (AA and AF) up as high as they will go and see how it performs. It's a long story, but basically increasing the load on the video card seems to smooth out the game for some people. (something about the game running too fast and encountering 'synchronization problems")
CubbieBlue66
Internet connection crapped out and I forgot to come back here for a while, whoops. Anyway, yeah... I've got vsync enabled in game (and not preempted by the video card settings), and I've tried every single possible combination of fine-tuning the AA and AF to maximize performance... and it's not getting any better. How do I check to see whether the game is running at 60Hz in-game? And if that's not the case, how do I change it?

I called support and the smart a## that I had on the phone told me it was the dual core and they were working on a patch to help this out. Do not hold your breath on this one. All I do is when I play a game, I have to re-boot the machine first and every time I want to play after as well...
snepp
How do I check to see whether the game is running at 60Hz in-game? And if that's not the case, how do I change it? Once you've started a game, open your monitor's adjustment menu. Most monitors have a status page that tells you what the current resolution and refresh rate is. I am working with a dual core machine and I am also having probs. I doubt this will have much of an effect, but it's worth a shot. After you start the game, minimize it, open up the task manager, go to the processes tab, right-click on the mvp process, select the "set affinity..." option, and deselect "CPU 1". Just found this thread, quite a bit of relevant info. http://forums.nvidia.com/lofiversion/index.php?t10992.html
Crystallas
My dual Opteron 280 system handles the game beautifully. So does my 3800x2 and Opteron 165. I dunno how dual core could be a problem. Manually set your affinity if you think CPU is the problem. Using 6.4 cat drivers for the x600? x600 isnt a bad card, and the game doesnt need much more than that for better than basic display. It might just be whatever your running in the background.
snepp
I dunno how dual core could be a problem. Take 2 minutes to search google for dual core related problems with games. Anyway, you've got all AMD's. CubbieBlue mentioned having a pentium, not sure what Tobias has. It might just be whatever your running in the background. In Tobias's case, his game speeds up as time goes on, not something that would likely be cause by a background app. This is also a symptom caused by dual cores.
