Jack319
Does anyone know what you have to edit in the "datafile.txt" to make the ball physics more realistic without changing anything else?
ragamuffindaniel
check the datafile mods.. its been done.. not sure how to do it though.
big shmooz
Can you be specific about what physics you want to edit?
Jack319
Basically to make hits more realistic. I have games where I either keep pop flying out or sometimes never hitting it out of the infield. I have tried other mods on here and they do work great but I dont want all the other modifications that are added into them ex: camera angles. I discovered that I have to export the "datafile.txt" file from the "datafile.big" file then edit it, but I have no clue what to edit in there. Jack319
I checked under batterai for contact quality and batter and it looks like this: 0x2ebaa4d1 45<batterai>;0;1 3#0.000000e+000,0.000000e+000,0.000000e+000#4.838308e-001,5.000000e-001,1.600000e-001#1.000000e+000,1.000000e+000,0.000000e+000#;2;3 3#0.000000e+000,0.000000e+000,0.000000e+000#4.838308e-001,5.000000e-001,1.600000e-001#1.000000e+000,1.000000e+000,0.000000e+000#;4;5 3#0.000000e+000,0.000000e+000,0.000000e+000#4.838308e-001,5.000000e-001,1.600000e-001#1.000000e+000,1.000000e+000,0.000000e+000#;6;7 50.0;8 0.0;9 0.0;10 50.0;11 0.0;12 0.0;13 0.000;14 0.000;15 0.900;16 1.100;17 0.850;18 1.150;19 0.000;20 0.000;21 0.950;22 1.050;23 0.950;24 1.050;25;26 65.0;27 35.0;28;29 0.0;30 0.850;31 1.150;32 50.0;33 0.000;34 0.000;35 10.0;36 0.000;37 0.000;38 10.0;39 0.000;40 0.000;41;42 3#0.000000e+000,0.000000e+000,0.000000e+000#5.696517e-001,6.057143e-001,1.428572e-001#1.000000e+000,1.000000e+000,0.000000e+000#;43;44 1.0; I'm assuming that thios is not what I'm looking for? lol
kumala
check values 16-24. 30-31 adjust power.
big shmooz
Jack319... if you look directly above that in your datafileedit.txt you will see a description for all those numbers you are showing in the picture above. As you can see they are in numbered order here. However in the descriptions located above it, they are not in order. So you may have to look around there to find the correct numbers you want to edit. How to edit it would be the following... let's take the #30 that you are showing as an example... It looks like this... 30 0.850; This means that # 30 has a value of 0.850. If you want to make the power even less, you may want to change it to 0.750. To make it more, you might choose 0.950. Anyway... this is the trick to editing numbers. Then you save the file & then export it back to the actual datafile.txt .
kumala
30 and 31 affects how far a ball will travel. try lowering 31 to 900 and see more looping hits. raise it and see booming shots. I have mine set at .700 and 1.000 for 30-31 and raised 22 and 24 to 1.20.
Jack319
Thanks guys for all the help, but I need one more thing. Does anyone know of a good compressor/decompressor ? I tried looking on the site but could'nt find any.
UncleMo
anyway to make it stadium specific, like say, coors field? just curious.
Jack319
Not sure what you mean. If you mean ball physics for a certain stadium, then no. I basically want a more realistic game for any stadium I play in. I have games where all I can do is either pop fly out or hit it right to an infielder when I know that I should've sent it off into outer space. I've had plenty of games where I could'nt do anything but lower my batting average. Then I end up creating new profane words that even I never heard of. lol

infineon
Which values should I edit if I'm getting sharply hit ground balls that roll all the way to the wall before my outfielders cut it off (which they should)? Thanks.
Jack319
I took kumala's advice: 30 and 31 affects how far a ball will travel. try lowering 31 to 900 and see more looping hits. raise it and see booming shots. I have mine set at .700 and 1.000 for 30-31 and raised 22 and 24 to 1.20. Based on these settins, the ball travels more leveled. Outfield flys are more of an arc and ground balls have a slight bounce but fall way short of the wall most times. For the mostpart the ball goes places it hardley ever went before. It's more evely distributed around the field. But all in all it's way more realistic to a real life ball game than by default.
Jack319
It's too bad that there is'nt a program out there where you can edit "textfile.txt" files and somehow see a preview of your setting changes within the program.
kumala
jack, glad to help and for me its been the best physics I have seen yet. mixture of slow rollers, choppers, looping singles, hits down the foul line, choppers off the plate. homers just making it out. big shmooz
anyway to make it stadium specific, like say, coors field? just curious. I am not sure. There may be some way but one would have to dig in deep & really search hard in the datafile to see if there is a breakdown for individual stadiums in addition to the global settings. One way possible would be to try to do a "find" for let's say "coors" & see if anything shows, & if it does, what can be done with it.

big shmooz
30 and 31 affects how far a ball will travel. try lowering 31 to 900 and see more looping hits. raise it and see booming shots. I have mine set at .700 and 1.000 for 30-31 and raised 22 and 24 to 1.20. Question... don't you find that by raising 22 & 24 to 1.20 that balls that normally would be singles travel too fast for the outfielder to get to, & thereby causes extra basehits on balls that shouldn't be extra basehits? kumala
only if they are really tagged. I've had hard shots start to die as they get to the outfielder. I also edited the topspin in the batter section so it wouldn't roll as much to the wall. Try my latest datafile and see.
big shmooz
kumala... What do you use for topspin numbers? I also edited topspin numbers. That's why I am asking. I want to try to get a proper mixture. I have managed to cut off those ground balls not going to the wall, but I also found that my power has gone way down. I intentionally lowered the power numbers somewhat, but they are down even to the extent that I may hit 1 homerun in like 25 games.
