Cool! I always though of the screwball as a type of changeup, not a curve. But hey, the only screwballer around these days is the recently retired Jim Mecir. I don't remember him having arm problems but his knee got screwed up.

ok, just curious. i thought he had one with the yanks but i guess he dropped it. i was probably thinking of the forkball so thanks for clearing that up.

Contraras throws just about everything in the book. When he came over from Cuba he was throwing like 8 different pitches in game situations. Way more than you would ever need. At the MLB level it is much more effective just to stick with maybe your 4 best pitches. Just because you can throw a certain pitch does not mean it will be effective against major leaguers. All those MLB pitchers have some idea on how to throw just about every pitch.
