I have tried to download roster updates but my system always crashes and i have spent some time updated the original roster but ive run out of edited guys i can use. The file is saved as a .sav file can i use mvp edit to access it.

No, MVPEdit can only be used with .dat files (and not with .sav files). When you install the game, the default roster files are installed in your MVP Baseball 2005 data database folder.

If you open up MVPEdit and import the files from this folder, you can then edit them with MVPEdit. Make your changes and the export them back to the same folder.

Before making any changes, be sure to back up your .dat files, just in case you want to get them back to their original state.

Did you install any of the EA patches for MVP Baseball, specifically patch #4 or patch #5?

When EA released patch #4, they changed the format of the attrib.dat file (one of the roster files).

RGlass released two versions of MVPEdit -- version 2005.4 (which was released in April 2005) and version 2006.2 (which was released in February 2006).

Version 2005.4 will import roster files created before patch #4. Version 2006.2 is required if you import roster files created after patch #4.

If you have a .mbe file, you can open it in either version of MVPEdit. MVPEdit is just fussy about the format of the .dat files you are trying to import.

If you are having a problem opening the rosters with the version of MVPEdit you have right now, download and install the other version (in a separate folder) and try importing the roster files again.

You can tell which version of MVPEdit you have by opening up MVPEdit and clicking on the "About" menu item.

I just checked RGlass' website (http://www.glass4.com/MVPedit/) and only MVPEdit version 2006.2 is available for download.

If you need the older version, you might try sending him a PM to see if he can send it to you.

MVPEdit only gives me the option to open or import mbe files.

That's not true. If you click on the Open button, it asks you to select a .MBE file to open. If you click on the Import button, it displays an "Import DAT Files" window and asks you to select your DAT folder (i.e. the folder where you .dat files are).

yes i selected the data then database folder and there is nothing there its empty. the only ones i can access are the .mbe files. But i dont understand why ultimate roster 6.4 doesnt work. do you need to have an additional file or what? They are up to date and i would like to use them.

Give us the exact steps you are performing to try to open the dat files and don't leave anything out. Be very detailed so that we can determine what you are doing wrong.

Also, remember, you OPEN .mbe files, but you IMPORT .dat files.

Go to import on the toolbar and then find the MVP Baseball 2005/data/database folder. Once you click on the database folder it will be ready for you to imprt, just click "OK" or "IMPORT" whichever it is. Once you do that the rosters will appear in MVPEdit for you to mess with.

By the save screen? Well then you just have to save it in the MVPEdit program folder under a name that you will remeber.

Yes, but one doesn't expect to see a save screen when trying to import something.

That means one of the rosters is over the maximum of players. Check your Free Agents List if you created a player, there will be too many. The numbers of players are listed above the roster.

Whe you import the roster it will ask you where you would like to save it, If that doesn't come up when you select the database folder and hit "OK" then I would redownlaod the program and try again.

OH MY GOD!!! SEARCH PEOPLE SEARCH!!! There must be atleast 5 threads on how to get MVPEdit going. You may even want to look at the top of this section of the forums. Read the FAQ list by MarkB.
