MVPEdit Rosters Causing MiniGames to Crash

Hello,

I'm starting this thread because it seems that a lot of people are experiencing this issue:

 After using MVPEdit to export roster [.DAT] files, MiniGames, (specifically Batting), crash.

I'm almost completely certain that the crash is being caused by MVPEdit's EXPORT feature. It sounds like everyone who has edited their rosters with MVPEdit and then exported them are falling prey to this issue.

To support my "theory", I downloaded Totte's Ultimate Rosters 6.1 Plus Edition and Copy/Paste all of the individual .DAT files into my database folder. I fired the game up, tried the batting minigame, and all worked without a hitch.

Then, I referred to the attached .MBE file within the download. I opened that file, did not make any changes, and EXPORTED the .DAT files into my database folder. I fired the game up again, tried the batting mingame, and it crashed after looking at my player's warm-up actions.

Does anyone have any idea what's causing this issue?

I'm running the latest version of MVP Edit, (2006.2).

Thanks for any support or help anyone can provide! I'm sure I won't be the only one thanking you!

EDIT: No MVPEdit Support Thread would be complete without this.

Here's how you solve it:

After exporting the rosters with MVPedit, open up the file attrib.dat in the mvp2005/data/databse folder (where you exported the rosters) and insert the following string of text where it should be according to the alphabetical order.

0f844e070,0 Shane,1 Reynolds,2 37,3 0,4 0,5 0,6 10,7 27,8 115,9 29,10 244,11 1,12 0,13 0,14 0,15 0,16 1,17 743,18 1,19 5,20 11,21 0,22 0,23 43,24 12,25 11,26 10,27 10,28 2,29 0,30 0,31 1,32 1,33 0,34 0,35 0,36 0,37 0,38 2,39 0,40 2,41 1,42 0,43 0,44 0,45 7391,;

Apparently, EA has programmed the mini game to use Shane Reynolds as the pitcher when he's not in the rosters it crashes.

You guys should thank kraw for finding the error.

I was wondering, perhaps you can create Shane Reynolds & leave him in the free agent section. This way this edit need not be done every time one wants to play the mini game. Just a thought I had.

And then, it worked!

Thanks Totte - I really do appreciate the help! You have no idea how much that has been bugging me.

Also, Big Schmooz, I think I'm going to try that option from here on out.

Thanks again!

Will do, man.

Also, on a semi-related note, does anyone know what file contains the MiniGame batting settings? Perhaps we could switch it from Shane Reynolds to someone who will be around for a long time, i.e. Johan Santana or Dontrelle Willis. I don't see them exiting the game via lack of talent or because of age any time soon.

Well, I've tried, but without success. :(

I imported the stock MVP Baseball 2005 rosters and created an MBE file. Using Shane Reynolds's information from this file, I created a Free Agent in the UR6.5 Plus MBE. Except for statistics, everything is identical to the information included in the stock '05 game.

I then exported the updated UR6.5 rosters and attempted to run the Batting MiniGame. Unfortunately, it didn't work. It crashed just like it did before.

Note:

I'm not too sure the exact player maximum capacity, but assuming it was "maxed" out, I deleted Sammy Sosa from the Free Agent list. By removing him and creating Reynolds, I figured it evened out.
