dusthimself
An Astros rundown of the past week... Well this past week of action has been exciting for the Astros and their fans. Astros fans went crazy when they learned of the first draft pick being 25 year old Albert Pujols, who has put up consistant numbers every year. Only to be followed by the young stud Jake Peavy, who has already pitched two complete game shutouts for the Astros this year. After the draft the Astros traded away pitcher Scott Olsen for catcher Yadier Molina, in which Yadier has shocked everyone with his batting talent this year, including his own team. The Astros are currently 4-2, both of their loses coming to them in extra innings, which in turn is putting some pressure on the bullpen. Both loses also came when the Astros were looking to sweep their opponents, including the rival St. Louis Cardinals. Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Reds was exciting for pitching fans everywhere, as Pedro Martinez fought the young Chad Billingsley in a classic duel of pitching mechanics. Both going 8 innings and combined for 17Ks, Billingsley having 10Ks alone. Despite Billingsley's amazing performance, he was pulled prematurely due to control problems in the top of the eigth, and coming up to bat at the bottom of the inning. Neither starting pitcher gave up a run, and Chad only allowed two hits off of him. We look forward to his next start where he will hopefully pick up his first win. Jorge Cantu's dislocated finger may have been a set back for the Astros during their Sunday game when they struggled to get a run against the Reds Pedro Martinez and their bullpen, but in New York they proved they can be just as dangerous without him. Jorge Cantu is expected to be back by this time next week, just in time to face the Reds once again. Any questions please forward them to.... well... this thread. Thanks for reading... dusthimself
The Mob Goes Wild... Struggling all night, the Braves/Astros game last night would seem to be going into extra innings, and we all know how the Astros are doing in extra innings... The mob was pumped up though, the adrenaline was electric throughout the stadium as everyone stood up for #5, Albert. Of course, that was short lived when he popped it up and everyone was hushed as it drifted downward to the ground and David Wright scouted it... only for it to fall in the camera's box, just feet away from an out. Relief. Then Celebration. Albert took one swing of the bat on an inside fastball, a horrible mistake by Rincon, and god damn did Albert crush it. As soon as he made contact, everyone's arms were up, even across the street they were already celebrating. That ball was crushed, killed, destroyed, raped, oblivirated... and it still doesn't do any justice to explain how fast that ball screamed out of the stadium. It only seemed fitting that we go back to our childhood roots of dreaming of hitting a game winning homerun in our backyard, only for it to go through Mr. Johnson's window. Albert's ball went through a window as well. The Mob Goes Wild.
