Taylor_Made Posted May 23, 2006 Author Share Posted May 23, 2006 [align=center] Game 3 of the 3 game series: Chicago White Sox(6-1) @ Cleveland Indians(0-7) Thome Guides Sox's To 4-3 Victory [/align] Game Notes Cleveland *(Ticker) –Cleveland coming off a 8 game losing skid was trying desperately to get their 1st win of the season in there rubber game against the White Sox’s. A.J. Piezynski started the scoring in the top off the 2nd when he blasted a solo Home Run off Paul Byrd to put Chicago up 1-0 but Dave Roberts answered straight back for the Tribe when he blasted a solo dinger of his on to make it 1-1 heading into the 3rd. Jim Thome who has been a monster in this series blasted his 2nd home run against the Indians this season for a 2-1 lead and then in the 5th Juan Uribe hit a solo Homer and Joe Crede knocked in Scott Podsednik and put the Sox’s up 4-1. The Indians answered back when Travis Hafner knocked in Grady Sizemore and then in the bottom of the 6th Dave Roberts scored on a error to make it 4-3 but that was all she wrote as the Sox’s bullpen help on for the 4-3 victory. Cleveland *(Ticker) – The Indians facing a ten game losing skid hosted the Twins but things started out terribly for the Tribe. Minnesota jumped out to a 5-0 lead by the 4th inning thanks to a solo Home Run by Justin Morneau and then a 3 run blast by Torri Hunter. Cleveland only got back into it in the last 4 innings thanks to a Solo blast By Travis Hafner and a RBI Double by Hafner, but it was not enough as the Tribe fell to 0-10. Shannon Stewart stared the scoring for the Twins with a RBI double in the 3rd inning for a 1-0 Twins lead but that’s when the Indians luck changed. 3B Andy Marte has had a less the stellar debut season so far but he is well on his way to changing that thanks to a 3 run Home Run in the bottom of the 4th for a 3-1 Indians lead. Justin Morneau drove in a nother run for the Twins to make it 3-2 Tribe but the Jhonny Paralta blkasted a 3 run Home Run for a 6-2 Indians lead and that’s how it would stay thanks to some great pitching by C.C. Sabathia who struck out 7 in 6 innings work. Game 2 Starters Johan Santana (2-0, 1.06 ERA) vs C.C. Sabathia (0-2, 21.60 ERA) Top 3rd RBI Double Stewart Bottom 4th 3 Run Home Run Marte Top 5th RBI Single Morneau Bottom 7th 3 Run Home Run Paralta MIN = 2 CLE = 6 Andy Marte (1-3, HR, 3 RBI’s) Shannon Stewart (2-4, 1 RBI) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Game 3. Cleveland *(Ticker) – The Tribe sitting at 1-10 where looking to make it 2 game in a row but fell short in a pitchers duel. Joe Mauer hit a sac fly to center field that allowed Shannon Stewart to score and make it a 1-0 game in the 1st inning and that was how it would stay as both pitchers threw stellar games.
